  1. This is going on more and more, not only have you lost out on your income, you are also in part paying for the tree work, how do you think they can come in and undercut legitimate sole traders and tree companys ??? its because we payed through our taxes for there chippers , mewps, saws, holidays, and boy, do the council know haw to take holidays, training, pickups, PD but only if they are paid and its in work time, waste disposal, fuel, overtime, and i know of a council worker who often would sleep over in the afternoon while at work and book it out as overtime, check out our LPA they have even set up a limited company to take the losses and undercut other company's as and when they like, once they have the tender its very easy to then negotiate more money ( from the tax payer, you and me ) Its shocking what goes on Welcome
  2. First thing would be to talk to your Tree Officer and make sure he's knows about the problem, then discus about what alternative species could be used as alternative trees, there are quite a few trees which are tolerant of Honey Fungus , choice will depend on what best out of the list would most fit the site in appearance , ultimate height when mature , shape , see what the TO has to say and even invite his opinion. If he's any good as a TO he should be very helpful .
  3. Looks like Amylostereum laevigatum, possible entry point was the historical pruning point. Canker Rot.
  4. nice, but try typing in Bridget Powers , Google images , i prefer them not too tall, and a little bit of art work looks really nice.
  5. First thing, don't panic, its the LPA's way of buying a bit of time so that they can fully access the site. Any developers will also know that should approval for development be granted this would over rule any TPO's, what it does create is more work for the developer to put together a sympathetic proposal for the landscape and any retained trees, and will also ensure that any retained trees which would possibly depending on there health and condition be TPO'd are fully protected during construction , (bs5837). If there are poor quality trees it allows mediation to take place any proposed trees could be replaced with a new tree planting scheme. Any serious buyers will know this, it may be better to put the site up for Auction , that would generate the most interest and bring all the developers out from under there rocks. Development sites even with tree constraints are making a fortune, put it with Savels or some big well know auction house.
  6. Hi John, i did look at buying the Toro which has a very similar spec, the negative things for yours are,its too wide, and the working position to the rear creates a blind spot around the stump when grinding, and i bet that wheel would slow very quickly as it sinks into the ground, especially on harder wood and in the wet on clay and even more once the chisels are dull. Positives, great price, green teeth are the best especially the reds, ( my opinion ) and should be lower down time having no belts to the cutter wheel, great cutting ark, but ask your self this, how many do you think you will sell and what would the resale value of one be as an known brand ? i after much research and after owning a lot of different grinders bit the bullet and got a new Jo Beau b31-110 i have run it now for 2 years and its the best money maker i have ever invested in.
  7. That is a tidy set up, mines more rusty and missing a light after crashing on a footpath splitting for tree man tom.
  8. 7 miles is the longest road trip so far, and given the flow speed of the natural morning traffic it was no quicker in a car, the only difference was i looked like a ****, ear defenders, chainsaw , fuel can, and a flashing beacon and sarni box and flask.
  9. I even drive it on the road, taxed. from job to job locally
  10. I'v got one, cracking machine, i pull a grass topper in the summer and power a splitter with it the rest of the year, even hire myself out with it splitting wood, looks like a dog, always needs 10 to 30 seconds heat before starting, but always starts and never lets me down.
  11. Hi all, any one know the correct belt tension for the m500, all the text in my hand book is German and i cant see the belt tension from engine to cutter, its only done about 4hrs from new now but just wanted to make sure the belts are still set correctly as new belts sometimes bed in and need a little adjustment after a few hrs from new.
  12. Drepanopeziza sphaerioides, just waiting for the shout, you keeping good ?
  13. Look at the leaves, the bark lifting is also consistent with Anthracnose.
  14. It looks like S. babylonica and that Anthracnose of Willow was the main cause of it.
  15. The tree will have to be re inspected every 12 months or even every 6 months. Its existing life will have to be carefully managed, you could say, its safe useful life expectancy is short. Saying all that, it would be good to keep as long as possible, what you don't know is the trees history in life , as a tree , or as a memorial to those who have passed. Its very easy just to look at it as a tree, with defects , and not consider the wider consequences.
  16. Should of said, and taking into account the target area.
  17. Hope you get it sorted Mark, theres nout so shiiit as a problematic problem
  18. Perfectly fine prognosis given the stature of the tree, and a good result for the church, the tree lives on..... for now
  19. links not working, just tab in German ebay, then stihl ms 192 t in the general search, use translate top of page, you should find a dealer, i have been buying saws this way, you may need to ask them to confirm postage to uk and costs, cheep as chips and solves that problem, we are all in the same country after all !!!! eu.
  20. Not working sorry, its about 400 euros

  23. I love haggling, and the banter, couple of local big suppliers now always expect it from me, and maybe they even up the price before i start, i even throw in odd ones asking if they will take higher prices than what they are asking, they love it, on average i tend to get the vat plus 10 to 20 % off but thats for cash, i always insist it goes in the Xmas fund. Larger deals are also to be had, you don't ask you don't get, time of year is also a key factor , just had a very good deal on a new chipper
  24. Dead wood, again up to your own interpretation but as long as you specify it in your Key to your report all should be fine, I would say , minor - dead wood with a stem diameter 0 to 25mm Moderate 25mm up to 50mm Major dead wood 50mm upwards. As long as you provide a good Key and don't over complicate your report it should be fine, always fine detail any work specifications , and give clear time scale constraints to cover your self and aid the client in implementing a work schedule which will prioritise the work in respect of the Target areas and Risks which you have identified .
