  5. Oh that may help my thinking, the guy I worked with had 2 tracked 1 driving rack bench and the other with a boughton winch for extraction and stump pulling the 3rd wheeled one with a cross cut saw mounted on the front with a smaller winch on the back, I can remember his delight at getting a roadless fordson with an electric start that we then helped to start the others with. How times change
  6. woops I meant field marshal lovely smoke rings under pressure
  7. Posted this before and add it to this thread, found by using metal detector and saved us at least 1 blade, used in build of green oak timber framed workshop with wood and ‘find’ incorporated into building , our milling but wood supplied another for build. V. interesting post with fowler tractor, I started in the mid 60’s working weekends with a man who had 3 fowlers with American inserted tooth rack bench sawing mining and shipping dunnage blocks , brings back memories! Good luck sawing wood not metal!
  8. Language is difficult , super bock is tasty, south coast is v. scenic, west coast superb surfing big waves, difficult swimming but lots a fun, if you with resident tree surgeons food esp local fish is superb , brilliant dirt track roads just a little inland enjoy it.

  12. Steve we have just got a Ferrari 85 not articulated but normal steer c/w seppie mulcher, and have put it straight to work for the last 2 weeks and am very impressed with the ability of the tractor to traverse uneven ground conditions, we hope to replicate all we have in the big tractors just shrunk a lot, cheers for now . J

  15. I suppose if its better and only 2 pence more and more power then I’ll have to change to this one then just beware the black sludge
  16. Because of EU current sulphur content of red is not acceptable Red Diesel, Gas Oil New E U legislation as from 01 Jan 11 from this date we will not be allowed to use current spec red in non-road mobile machinery NRMM this includes tractors, other agricultural equipment, forestry equipment, construction equipment forklifts, portable generators, and inland vessels. There will be 2 alternative fuels available and both will be more expensive than our current red and we need to be using this from above date! No prices yet
  17. CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme. Have just returned from 2 day training course, there seems no easy way to get it, ie as in cscs, other than having to do the 2 day course with continual assessment, short paper exercise at end of day 1, a toolbox talk and tick box questionnaire requiring a minimum correct score at the end of the course. I understand average pass rate is approx. 90%
  18. SSSTS (CITB) – Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme. as far as I am aware we have been instructed to get this or pay to have a cert. person work with us who is a holder of this certificate
  19. Anyone else been asked to have this before being allowed to start working on site. We have cscs cards but now find another hurdle and certificate to have uugh!
  20. ''Re: gotta love NZ'' I do, and if any of you get the chance , go there it is the best!!
  21. If you are pricing Jake then it will be worth considering the addition of the belly, tank forestry guards , the protection offered is good, I think they call it armour kit
  22. (Had a good look at the one on his own Valtra at the weald woodfair and that had a decent sized Farmi Crane mounted and had legs ) I saw this and took pic of detail of leg I att. pic
  23. yep solid can be less troublesome! silicon grease can help a bit! ( with crane that is) its a right ### when you try to park the crane to get home and it wont!!
  24. here you go Stans favorite pair, regards to you, J
  25. Pictures Oh wait a bit! ( you’ve seen them before) Forgot to say if you are buying new, care the decimal point moves across a bit, you can have valtra built with jake plate supplied as I understand the factory is next to valtra, also be careful to find out about the controls for operating the crane, there is a lot of difference between electronic proportional and manual types and in-between, some valtra have enough flow and pressure to run a crane from the tractor hydraulic system but be warned !! it is safer to have a separate / independent system
