  1. I think wilsons were promoting the ‘harvadig’ at the last APF and since then in various magazines, quick conversion of digger to harvester and back , choice of base machine and high enough oil flow to power the head being the important factor
  2. ''I dont do firewood, my only interest is getting the trees down, chipping them and getting off site and seding invoice'' In my experience of site clearance, chip it and go, the only chipper for this type of work where there is possibility of dirty contaminated material and or grab feeding is the hiezohack range, how you get this down to size with mounting on a mog is up for discussion ( there was pre owned one about a short wile ago) not the fastest but always keeps going
  3. hucks ex front mount @ acp's is an excellent, and reasonable in price, way to start off, not to heavy, sufficient capacity to chip most brash, simple and therefore easy to run, if you really want to stress control can be added to it but with the power and size of chipper it is not needed, you could do a lot worse than to start of with this, worth considering, good luck
  4. I have a 12" towed Bandit... not stopped yet. It throws conifer a good 20' Steve 20' ? is that all ?
  5. seem to have lost the pics above:confused1: so try again
  6. Steve good to see you to, machinery, coffee and cake next time:001_smile:, spent the next am at acprice ( wife even more time out) and on to the waterfall walk at ingleton for the rest of the day. Benmore has a lot going on and will be with the current plantings a superb place for our children and grandchildren to visit, bridge over fallen tree in f.c. site adjacent,There really are some impressive trees here massive columns of timber growing in the sheltered valley on the deeper soils
  7. The one above Scots Pine with rot in the trunk, I believe talking to some staff there it was under review as to how to remove it with limiting damage, more astonishing are the other 2 I think were sitka with solid healthy trunk just broken off ! incredible force and in a semi sheltered place
  8. Amazing force of the gale just braking trees off, there was a lot of evidence driving round this area of wind damage, some flowering shrubs giving good colour at this time of year poss just a bit early for some of the best colour I guess
  9. Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - Benmore Botanic Garden benmore botanic garden - Google Search A recent trip up to Scotland to try to catch up with a boat and to try out my new (to me) vehicle gave me the opportunity to visit this rather good botanical garden, we spent a whole day there with a short excursion across the other side of the road to a Forestry Commission trail through some impressive trees, and to a F.C. planting trial started in ?1930 I think trailing differing spp. To assess suitability for planting the ‘strategic reserve’ I guess. an avenue of Redwood p 1863 50 planted 49 still there! I’d bet some local authorities would like that success rate, is one of the features of this site, excuse me for being lazy but links above to the gardens show much better info than I can remember, shame storm damage earlier this year, and a good excuse to go over the ferry to say hello to Steve.
  10. best I can find tonight but none fits the request 50 METRES OF NEW 12 MM WIRE WINCH ROPE | eBay lift cable metal wire rope | eBay clarks although I cant find it! most likely be best for new stuff Wire Rope Accessories | Clark Forest : Logging Equipment good luck

  12. Marzipan & almonds love it
  13. As far as I am aware we are using forestry loaders and not cranes, we do not have a hook on the end of the loader and do not require to hold a load in position and/or have a drop test as such, if you ask a supplier re crane test they always have a list of words to make it not a crane, similar situation to winch rope and lifting v. pulling. ( wish I had a firewood day! spent most of it trying to i.d. correct oil for van longlife service and ended up with fuel filter not fitting holder, back to the drawing board
  14. Depends where you are treenuts, competition and all that! But Woodmizer good, service, back up, help, parts excellent ! I have working knowledge of welsh and s.e. reps could not want for better .
  15. posted this before but here again! best find with detector so far:001_smile:
  16. Made the mistake of not using metal detector enough the other day, two days milling with woodmizer, and ruined 3 newish band saw blades, silly thing was last hit could/should have been avoided.
  17. Jim had one here CALEDONIAN FORESTRY LTD - Catalog fixed head with out the rotator @ £1500 or look on agriaffairs pince à grumes - Agriaffaires there was one sold on fleabay a couple of weeks ago from scotland so they are around, or make one up from rotator and grapple , good luck
  18. i'd buy this one just for the name! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdocZJkg-Bc&feature=related]BEAVER SQUEEZER GRAPPLE - YouTube[/ame]
  19. this is sold in uk by allbut Albutt Timber Grapple - NEW along with other good bits! K.T.S Arm Grapple is the grapple use with either 3 point linkage or front loader, I would hope you could adapt existing clamp to contain brash by ? revising mounting point of ram or clamp. I have adapted a bobcat grab bucket to fit our mini tractor to do a similar job ( cant find pics of it though, ugh )
  20. yes \\

  23. It seems that adding the words any driver and work to insurance on this type of vehicle sends underwriters into a vanishing act
  24. thank you for the feed back, will try the above . cheers J
