  1. I've got the Zk2 bud. They're great aren't they! Had a great little play in the woods today, made a foot strap for my hand ascender and with a bit of practice it felt like I was shooting up the tree. I just find sorting my tip out to be a bit long winded! Any advice?
  2. Ah good thinking Kevin 😃 Were you trying to say a butterfly and maillon is a good combo on the last bit you typed, can't quite work it out? What's your opinion on the maillon in the spliced eye for advancing to the TIP? It would make a nice weight for chucking to a higher limb?
  3. I tie a butterfly and then attach it to the other line with the maillon so it can be attached mid line. Is that roughly the same thing? Is a bowline a pain to tie with a fifty foot tail?
  4. Quick question, is it ok to put a maillon through my spliced eye and then round the working end to cinch it up? Will it put the splice under a strange load? Also, once at the TIP I find it awkward to tie the butterfly with the weight of the rope, it there a method you find better?
  5. Do they have a strap to put them over your shoulder?
  6. What a fantastic photo and view!!!
  7. Congratulations Adam 😃
  8. A good day for ducks in (not so) sunny Sheffield 😃
  9. It looks like a great idea. What sort of spring did you use to make it?
  10. What's the shortest tether people have used? I suppose if you're smaller, then you'll have to use a smaller one to be able to reach above it ok?
  11. That's just the loop in the Knut that leg passes through OMT. Will be interested to hear if it runs well with a Knut?
  12. Owwww lovely, I was wondering if you'd got it yet 😀 I'll have to get back over for a blast soon 👍
  13. Went out in to the peaks for a bit of a climb today. Used a base anchor for the first time which made retrieval easy, but also made my line very bouncy. I'm on 13mm XTC PLUS at the moment. Getting one of the static lines would give it less bounce, would it also make it quicker? I found that when I was trying to jump to a branch say, three metres down and two meters across I was struggling to get there! What I'd like to achieve would be the difference between a drt setup over a nice smooth fork, to a drt setup in a pulley saver. All in all though I started to get a bit more used to it and I'm looked forward to becoming well-versed with the system 😀
  14. That's alright then, so long as he's ok then all's good! 👍
  15. How are things going for you now bud? Not seen you on here for a while!
  16. Cool, I like his cover of that song, it's one of those ones that when I listen to it, it get stuck in my head all day long 😀. He has some epic leg tattoos😀 It makes you feel lucky when you've grown up somewhere nice doesn't it! It always makes me smile when I go back to Woodhall Spa where I grew up. It has loads of lovely trees, some of which Adam spotted with his keen eye, are getting rather tall now 👍
  17. It looks lovely where your parents live, great photos and great clouds in one of the too! Is your son the one on the guitar in one of your vids?
  18. Cool, saw them as I drove past today, they do look rather big! When I'm next back I'll call in at meg and have another look at the ones there I told you about, see if they're as big as I remember! I'll have a think of other big pines round woodhall too, there is some massive ones 😀
  19. It was you too buddy and thanks again for showing me the ways of the rope wrench. I'm starting to look at trees in a different way already and it's quite exciting! Just need to go out and practise practise practise 😀 Are the pines the ones just behind it?
  20. I think i see what you mean now buddy, the wrench shouldn't drop much below 90 degrees to the tether when ascending? With mine, when you put you weight back on, the hitch fully bites just before the wrench is the the fully up position. It seems to work ok like that!? Will be having a proper go on it on Friday so will find out more then. Looking forward to meeting up with Adam to see what one working at its best is like!
  21. Haha that's ok then, nipped the panic in the bud 😀
  22. I sometimes carry an After Eight in my pocket, would that do the job??
  23. Not really sure what you mean chap, the wrench never touches the hitch when advancing. Is that right? I've only had a little hang on it from a wooden rafter in the garden!
