  1. I don't bother bud. There's three angles to each tooth so a guide would take some making anyway. I do the two side of the tooth and then put the top angle on. You'll be surprised how little you have to do to make it sharp again, just two little half strokes will most probably do. You'll notice when you're looking close that there are usually one or two teeth that differ from the rest. Either file them to the normal pattern or just follow their lines, both ways are good. It'll be nice to hear how happy you are that you've had a go 😃
  2. Nice one👍 It's well worth it isn't it, and once you get your eye in it doesn't take that long! There must be thousands of perfectly good silkys sitting abandoned in people sheds, just waiting for a little tickle to come back to life!
  3. I use a feather diamond file off the net, they're about £6. One will usually last about ten sharpens. When you first sharpen a blade you can get away with a couple of strokes on the ramp, you'd be amazed how much difference it makes. If a blade is more knackered do all three cutting edges. Even after a good few sharpens you can bring the angles in to make it cut better. The main thing is that a blade that's on it's 5th sharpen with smaller teeth, will still cut far better than one that's gone dull and not seen a file. The files I use sound loads finer than the dudes on the vid.
  4. Haha, once you get used to it, buying a new blade once ones gone dull seems as daft as buying a new chain when the same the same has happened 😃
  5. I sharpen all of mine. I know some have been hardened so they say they can't be sharpened, but the way I see it is if wood can blunt them, then a diamond file can sharpen them. All mine come up mint. I sharpen most of the lads I work for saws and they seem well pleased. It's a big saving not having to spend £25 every time a blade goes dull 😃
  6. Get your mrs to suck it out?
  7. Good man, that's handy to know! Do get very tempted with the HH!
  8. Ah I suppose it has been a tad chilly of late! Now it's warm do you think the rest will be fine?
  9. Really? Most of it looks ok but the tops are drooping and dying?
  10. Hiya I've been doing a bit of dead wooding in a private woodland today and we noticed this poorly Laurel. What do you think could be wrong with it?
  11. played with it on pull up bar and seems to tend very well and grab consistently. Good work bud! Once you've loaded it good and proper a few times the inner rope will stretch a little. You may then be able to pull it up over the top hole on the HC, allowing you to use the middle hole to attach your chest harness too 👍
  12. Would you have to pay some form of tax on top of that?
  13. Blimey 7000!? What's in them to make that much?
  14. Ahh I see! It was because the line was coming at an angle to the redirect so things were getting caught. Now from what you've said I'd be able to put my foot in the fork on the way down, lean back and put a false one in, descend and do work and then put foot back in the fork on my way back up! Cheers Adam 😃
  15. I use a pantin Ben, it's just when moving up through the crotch the wrench tends to get snagged on it. I've only done it a few times so probably just bad technique?
  16. Cheers Ben. Had a few more plays and everything's becoming quicker. One thing I'm finding a little tricky is climbing back up through a natural redirect, the wrench and hitch seem to get caught on the crotch. I get there in the end but what's the best way to do it?
  17. Ahhh bless! That first one looks well mardy 😄
  18. They have gone up to £81 now so fr jones are the cheapest.
  19. Haha, all I can say is....baby oil..... Nice one for sorting it bud, runs like a dream 😃 I hear you have a 150 now? Any good?
  20. Hiya spud, it's a 2009 saw I think. It started doing that thing where it behaves as if its just about to run out of fuel. I could hardly use the saw one minute and then a little tweak to the screw and it was booming through the timber!
  21. The main thing I was checking was whether it looked like it was running lean. The saw was running like a bag of poop(thought it was the typical carb problem) but then my 'L' screw was adjusted an 8th of a turn out and it runs fantastically now! Suppose I was making sure it wasn't too good to be true 😃
  22. Hello there I thought I'd take the plug out of my 200t and check it looks ok. Do you think everything's burning correctly? Cheers Ger
  23. The zk2 does seem good but I'm sure the zk1 is fine too. See if you can get Adam on here to make you a tether, his look spot on!
  24. Cheers Dan. I'll have a look into what you're saying and see if I can work it out.
