  1. I stitched them up with 70lb fishing braid. Never done anything like that before so I was making it up as I went along. Seems good and strong though and I'll keep checking them to make sure nothing's moved. Am I right in thinking that even if a tether broke, you'd just be stuck?
  2. Got my wrench this morning and I only ordered it yesterday, nice surprise! Made a tether for it this afternoon and from what I can make out it seems to work ok! Do you think it looks ok? Right position and whatnot?
  3. That sounds good then! I might try and pop back this weekend if I've not got any work. Would you be about? I'll pop on to the RW thread now and stick a picture up of what I've made.....
  4. Cool! I was real tempted but having not ever had a go at SRT I thought I'd go for the more widely used. One thing that crossed my mind about the HH is everyone says even just making a mm difference in your hitch, makes a massive difference to the way it performs, and it takes a bit of tuning to get it right. If that's the case and you're working on ten trees in a day, wouldn't that be a pain if you weren't using a base anchor so had to take it off each tree?
  5. Now you've had a couple of goes and had time to let it all sink in, are you starting to think its on par with the wrench? I do like the idea of not having anything above the hitch, and the ease of swapping between DRT and SRT! Saying that though, I've just ordered the wrench haha!
  6. Haha 😄 Super, I thought you should be able too. Looking forward to having a go and being shown the techniques 👍
  7. Cheers chap. Something I can't quite get my head round so quick question. I notice with the tether you can still see the middle hole on the HC. If you were chuck your throwline into a large tree and not get to the top, could you srt up to that point, then nip up to your final TIP using drt leaving the RW in place? Good man!! If I'd drunk that amount these days I'd still leathered, and would most probably stay that way for the rest of the week!!!
  8. Hiya Adam Thank you for the kind offer and sorry for not getting back to you! Within the first day of getting back to lincs my "new" iPhone decided to pack up and with apple being apple, you have to deal with them and not your provider, which meant having to wait until I got back to sheffield! All good now though so back on the net 😀 Any news on when you'll be able to produce more tethers? And how's the new invention going? I've not got a wrench yet. Was going to order one this morning from that Forrest & Arb place for £65 (saw that price the day phone broke) but when I went on their site they had stuck it up to £82 in the last week.......bloody apple, haha! Will try and get back to lincs ASAP cos it'd be nice to have a go with someone who really knows what they're doing! Hope your well and had a great weekend. Ger 😀
  9. I had one just like that a few weeks ago. Got an ace vid, will try and upload!
  10. Not to worry bud! Apart from tomorrow and Monday evening I here all week plastering and fitting a kitchen. I've not got a wrench yet but was thinking about ordering one next week but may wait now until you've got your stuff, pointless having one without the other?
  11. Hiya Adam, would there be any chance of hitchclimber one next week? Where do you live, I'm in woodhall all week so could get it off you in person?

    Old saw!!

Super, it's nice to hear a bit about the saws history, my friend will be chuffed. I'll have a look at the engine next week when I'm over there again 😀

    Old saw!!

It does doesn't it. Wonder if it was a special? Is the such a thing as a left handed chainsaw........or was that a silly question???

    Old saw!!

He's not tried to get it going so far, think he's just going to clean it up and have it as an ornament. Must have been hard work using them in the past, it weighs loads!!

    Old saw!!

Look what my mate found...... .......quite cool isn't it!
  17. It's a pleasure buddy. I'm impressed with you👍 No looking back now, the past is the past, the new you is here to stay, so enjoy and keep moving forward 😀
  18. That is fantastic, all it needed was for you to make the move, bravo buddy and enjoy 😀
  19. I presume that you've now had a few days of 20 mins of meditation a day and are feeling the benefit?
  20. Thanks for that, it'll certainly help with stripping it down 👍 It's not the cap spud, it does seem to be coming from round the high/low flow screw, there's clean oil round it and down that side! I'll have a dabble at stripping it tomorrow evening to have a look.
  21. Cheers spud, I'll have to strip and have a look, it's leaking loads! When you turn the saw upside down, the oils coming from the side of the orange case where the screw is, not the other side where the chain and sprocket are.
  22. I've just noticed that the chain oil seems to be coming from the flow high and low screw area. Have you any idea what could be amiss?
  23. I've done a few fillings before. I once smashed part of one of my front teeth and I think it went through to the nerve because it did smart a little! Did my own filling which was great for stopping the pain but looked a bit silly as it was bright white and the rest of the tooth was a bit stained haha!
  24. Good I'm pleased it does. Remember the only way to stop it is start doing something different, so have a google and start 20mins a day. Defo try this before going down the tablet route, they will just mask the feelings, good for a while but meditation has no side effects......apart from bliisfulness and a big smile. Hypnosis is very good if you can afford it, but back it up with meditation too 👍
  25. Meditation!! I've had hypnosis before and it's fantastic, got rid of a bad fear of dogs when I was a kid and also for calming me down in my 20's when I was a bit of a psyco. The only down side to me about it is you have to pay.....but if it does the job then all's good I suppose. I'm now calmer than I've ever been due to taking up meditation. I've always had a fight or flight that was like a hair trigger and now it's not even thought about. There's a saying that goes, someone with depression lives in the past, someone with anxiety lives in the future, someone who's calm live in the now, the present moment. It's so true, when you meditate the first stage is present moment awareness, once you are totally in the moment then you start to watch the breath. You will have thoughts coming and going but just let them do that and return your attention to the breath. With practice the thoughts will fade away and you are just left with the breath. At this stage you will feel totally calm. The next stage when watching the breath, the breath starts to disappear, when this happens the feeling is blissful. When you come out of meditation you feel wonderful. The mind naturally loves to be calm, with practice it soon starts to trend towards this way. It's all good making plans for the future, everyone has to, but once they are made bring your mind back to the present moment. If you keep them in your head its like carrying round a big heavy bag and that will make you tired, unhappy and you won't sleep with all the thinking about them. Once you've put it down you'll feel light, energetic and you'll sleep like a baby as there's nothing on your mind. Just go back to your bag as and when needed to get the stuff of the moment out. A good example of present moment awareness, and the bag, is say a big tree dismantle. The tree has 40 branches, one of which is going to be a real challenge. Anxiety way of dealing with tree, look at tree, see hard branch, make plan for hard branch, start working on tree thinking about hard branch, worry through whole takedown and then get to hard branch, deal with hard branch using plan, all's good, finish tree. Present moment way, look at tree, see hard branch, make plan, put plan down, have a really good time and enjoy the moment on all the other 39 easy branches, get to hard branch, pick up plan and put into action, all's good, finish tree, fantastic day had by all! It was exactly the same day, just one thought of in the future and one in the now. See what I mean? I could write for hours on this subject because its made such a difference to me and my life, and all friends I have taught it has changed their life's too. There's lots of FREE info on meditation on the net, don't go paying loads on any of the sites that say they will change your life for £xxxxxx......anxious people are easy to make money out of because they'll do anything to get rid of it. Hope that helps. Have typed it on phone so may not be perfectly put across but hope it makes sense.
