  1. Apologies if I have misunderstood you. Do you work for this one person 5 days a week or are you working for different people as well? If you are working for other people then you are a freelancer, not an employee (other than from the point of view of insurance, as you would always be working under the employer's insurance unless you were on your own job), and so not entitled to the benefits of employee status. As a freelancer, you are entitled to set your own rate and decide who you work for and when. If you work for the one person every day then you are an employee and entitled to all those benefits. I would still advise you to seek the advice previously mentioned. Hope that is a bit clearer.
  2. You are an employee, whether your boss thinks you are or not. You need to have a difficult conversation with him which might not go well. At the moment you are missing out on holiday pay, sick pay, paternity pay, pension and ppe, as well as wasting money on insurance which you don't need and which wouldn't pay out in the event of a claim. I would get some professional advice on your status and talk to your insurance company to get their take on it. Sorry it's not better news.
  3. My dad can remember seeing them in Salcombe when he was evacuated down there during WW2.
  4. Is it cold where you are?
  5. I bought two loops and still got charged for delivery.
  6. Do you organise any of the work you do eg where or when you work? Do you provide anything other than your personal kit eg truck and chipper, other members of staff? Do you get any part of the profit from the job other than your day rate? If the answer to these questions is no, you do not need Public Liability cover as you are freelance labour(although in your situation I would argue strongly that you are an employee and your employer is dodging his responsibilities to you with regards sick pay and holiday pay, ppe etc). In fact, you are wasting your money because your insurer would not pay out.
  7. Anybody had any experience of these, please?
  8. Try Mick Stockbridge.
  9. They have a nasty habit of lunching their transmissions if driven too much on road rather than off.
  10. The Thames one wasn't that bad. It just caught fire a little bit. London Duck boat tours on River Thames halted after fire - BBC News
  11. 3 months is their cut-off, IIRC.
  12. We got a Harrison and it is great. All natural fibres too(Silk one side and Wool the other).
  13. When you come to pay, it's worth mentioning that you are a student at whichever college you are attending as some suppliers offer a discount for students.
  14. That's where the Search button comes in, then you go and see which suits you best.
  15. Firstly, welcome to Arbtalk.Use the Search button in the Banner heading and have a read of the threads already in existence. When you've been through them, go to your nearest Arb supplier and try them all on because we are all different sizes and what fits somebody else might not fit you.
  16. Buy one, you won't regret it. I have one I use for light veg clearance jobs when I don't need to be using a 'pro' saw all day and it hasn't missed a beat.
  17. I believe there used to be a variety of MRE in the US Army called Chipped Beef.
  18. Are you sure it's Oregon chain and not Husqvarna 25, which is .325?
  19. I'm not sure I could manage to cut down trees and booze for 23hrs and 59 minutes.
  20. Ebay is an auction.
  21. Somewhere in Ebay's T and Cs there will be something stating which laws apply. If both seller and buyer are in the UK, I would suspect that UK law would apply. In a simple auction such as Ebay, a seller is legally bound to sell the article to the highest bidder as soon as a bid is placed, unless the article or its ownership can be shown to be not as described eg a car in mint condition is found by the owner/seller to have faults or be the subject of disputed title. Ebay offers the option of putting a reserve price on any item to be sold and it was the seller's choice not to do so. The buyer(OP) has two possible outcomes to pursue. Firstly, the seller providing the goods at the highest bid at the fall of the hammer (order from the court known as a decree of specific performance) or getting the buyer to pay the difference between the highest bid price and the cost of a comparable substitute item. It's all Contract Law 101.
  22. Seeing him in Bexhill next weekend.
  23. Agreed. I don't thinkI would be comfortable with the fading on that.
  24. Finally got round to this today. Had already given it a blow over with the air gun and washed the filter so started with vent tube and new fuel filter. Thought I would see if that had solved the problem and, when I started it, it idled nicely without stalling so I will leave the carb for when it plays up again.
