  1. Looks like a Buff.
  2. T&Cs again. Standard clause in your quote (not invoice) that payment is due within (x) days of completion or the price is increased by (y)%. Invoice on the day. Reminder letter a couple of days before in case there is a genuine reason, new invoice with increased price a few days after the due by date has passed, giving a time the bill has to be paid by to avoid Court action. Small claims is cheap enough and you add your costs to the bill. To be honest, unless it's a regular I would want paying when the job was done anyway.
  3. To the OP, don't forget to bill them if any of the plant had to be paid for.
  4. Forgot to say that I have a trailer now as well (Indespension 8x4 Beavertail) which I can bring for a few extra shekels if gear needs moving (have a Green Waste carrier's ticket).
  5. Gaps in the diary for the next couple of weeks. Help save me from painting the stairs and landing by booking me in.
  6. You would have to put something in your T&Cs to the effect that cancellation within (X) hours/days of the job would incur a charge of (Y)% of the cost of the job. This would need to be given to the customer at the time of quoting.
  7. You would normally only need a DBS (new name for a CRB) if you come into contact with the kids or work unsupervised.
  8. Eh?
  9. Nobody likes a smart arse, Maria
  10. Oh, Mark, you're so gritty and urban.
  11. Bought myself an old Indespension 8 x 4 beavertail trailer and wondered what my esteemed fellow Arbtalkers could recommend in the way of security other than the usual minefields and GPMGs firing on fixed lines. It has Mini wheels so am I right in thinking that I will struggle to get a wheel clamp that fits? Are hitchlocks even worth bothering with? All sensible comments and Bolam-esque insanity welcomed.
  12. You must be able to trust him as he's a general.
  13. I prefer the buck shot idea, bugger the sport
  14. Who's a lucky fella then?
  15. Still good odds.
  16. Not particularly favourable though, unless the intention is to be as popular as a fart in a lift.
  17. Stick a fiver on that for me as well please.
  18. That means they will be only twice the price of F R Jones!
  19. Exactly. It always makes me laugh when I'm free-lancing for another firm and they ask me if I have PL. You can learn a lot about them by their reaction when you tell them it's their job so their insurance.
  20. Not mandatory for contractor or sub-contractor. Highly advisable though.
  21. Is that from personal experience?
  22. All fine in Essex.
