    Like brushcutter says, you need to be a BC faller to work falling trees. English certs are not recognised. You might get work in the forest but not falling. Your gear will be fine, just wash it first. You may have better luck in Alberta.

    All looks good to me, pinto is designed to be used in that configuration. I like the thicker cords, if it grips reliably then its good to go. As Joe said you could remove the spacer, then put the hitch eyes in between the pulley cheeks.

    Airsickness? I never suffer, but have to admit by the end of the 40min flight I was glad to touch down. I was staring to get queasy. We stayed at a campsite just out of town right on the beach.

    Its a cool place for sure. I had a quick visit this past summer. About half way between Port Alberni and the Ucluelet junction there are some awesome swimming pools with lots of rocks to jump off. Needs to be alot warmer though. Did go up in that float plane in your picture too.

You wont have much luck with tree work that late in the year as work stops in november when the snow arrives. The standard of climbing is really quite high, and you are certainly expected to work hard. There is a good number of english arborist around vancouver, and I would think with your experience this would be a good place to start.     Nice, usefull for stuff thats going to get abused aswell. Joe look on ebay, there is a place in the north east sells all sizes and lengths. Something like North East Rope Services.

    Currently looking for freelance/subcontract work in the above areas. I have been climbing trees for 8yrs, around the UK, NZ, and Canada. I hold NPTC 30, 31, 38, 39, 41. ND in Forestry and Arb, C+E driving licence. Well versed in most aspects of treework, domestic, site clearance, woodland thinning. No powerlines. I have all of my own gear, saws and 4x4, however my top handle saw is currently mid atlantic en route from BC. I'm sure a few members would be happy to vouch for my work.     Well you can just tie a fig 8 into the bite to create a loop, it works with a bite, but wont hold body weight on the ropes I have, maybe with a supple grippy rope?

    We took down a big fir today. On a steep bank so built a pterodactyl nest for the chunks. About 36" dbh, only 52 years old. The site was logged in the late 60's. [ame] [/ame]
