  1. Jon, my post was in no way a criticism of what was planted in your pictures, more aimed at the people who see rows and rows of colourful but sterile bedding plants as "lovely". In my opinion, man just cannot compete with nature, what is more lovely than seeing red campion, cow parsley, and a little blob of speedwell on a bank/hedgerow with a vibrant green long stalked grass behind it. Looks better than any Piccasso to me.
  2. I watched the Sarah Raven series, very good, if only people could see the long term effects of wildflower areas instead of the instant colour schemes that are pretty but lifeless. I felt for her, trying to persuade the councils and such like, that this was a positive thing to do, good luck to her, and that last picture of the field above, just stunning.
  3. Lightforce used to do a smaller gun mounted lamp than the 170 and 140, it was called The Predator, you could fit with coloured lenses and it had a dimmer switch, think I got mine from target sports, bolton. I shot everything with it out to 180yds no bother. Just to add, with the dimmer you could use it at 10yd range too.
  4. nice pics,
  5. Great video, they were men then! Also, a tinge of sadness for those great trees.
  6. Might have had a go when I was younger, don't think I'd have the gonads for it now, thumbs up to those people though.
  7. Just booked my place. If anyone wanted to attend this and wanted some accommodation, I could probably put you up, I'm not to far away from the Greenwood Centre.

  18. Read posts 9, 11, 13. Did the Chilean and Argentine farmers have a protected species mammal acting as a cross contamination vector?
  19. If you don;t think bovine tb had nearly been eradicated, just look at the statistics. Pre the badger becoming a protected species, bovine tb reactor numbers were at their lowest post war, since badger numbers have risen uncontrolled, so has bovine tb, year on year, and there are fewer cattle around now than then. Foxes are controlled for the protection of ground nesting species, what happens when a badger comes across a curlew, lapwing, skylark, nest, they clean it up, thats what. Their numbers are also partly to blame for the decline of bumble bee nests and hedgehog numbers, the wildlife trusts don't want people to know this, so it's far easier to blame modern farming. I don,t want to see them eradicated, but control would go some way to ensuring a healthy badger population as well as a healthy cattle population. Unfortunately because their numbers are now so high, the initial cull is/has got to be heavy, and all methods should be used IMO, trapping, snaring and shooting.
  20. Easy to diagnose the error, he went with a double handed backhand/forearm volley and it was patently obvious it should it have been a single forearm tap.
  21. Google Mainbrace Marine Ltd, based in Scotland. They don't have a website, but the guy who runs it is a good chap, far cheaper than any of the climbing outlets,
  22. Did'nt know about your problems and surgery Andy, and have nothing much to say other than make sure you do what your told by the quack and get well soon. All the best, CJ
