  1. Talking of over thinking we moved our set up a few days ago and could no longer see the bulk bags when full up. We rushed around trying to nail a mirror up gave up and decided we need a camera to go with a spare monitor. When I took a step back and a coffee I realise all we needed to do was shove a pallet under.
  2. I tend now to look at my working life as a marathon rather than a sprint. If you do sprint and make lots of money two things could happen 1. you may get ill 2. you will pay lots of tax
  3. 6 months ago for the first time in 20 years a job was keeping me awake, big turn over with tight profit. The job went from one cock up to the next and at times I could even feel the start of panic attacks. None of it helped by the fact I was necking 3 or 4 cans of strongbow in the evenings. The conclusion I came to was a job you quoted for 3 days may turn into a week but its only money and some you win some you loose. The worst that can happen is you carry on tommorrow. Nothing wrong with a few tins but it makes your brain race when you are asleep especially if you are stressed already.
  4. A good choice up to about 2007 then they went a bit too electronic. Mine is now 15 years old and so far in 10 years of owning it one exhaust, 2 front calipers, set of discs all round and a cambelt. Similar build quality and reliability to the trooper but fair bit heavier on the diesel.
  5. The ones that I have met are full of pride and respect for themselves. Its respect for other people and their property that is lacking.
  6. Before you consider buying a disco commercial google the internet and believe everything you read because I am finding on a weekly basis its all true. I have run high miles in 4x4 for nearly 25 years and had virtually no problems the d4 we have now just falls to bits and apparently its not even a bad one I feel really sorry for people with a bad one. I read in one of the lr blinkered followers magazines someone bought a 4 year old sport and spent 12k on a service some suspension and a new steering rack. Come back trooper all is forgiven ( even the 3.0 )
  7. We cant have it both ways. You cant criticise using foreign labour and importing and then say anyone unemployed is work shy. We do have lots of work shy same as any other country I have seen and heard of a few east europeans that take up our ways after a while. There are lots of people with families that simply cannot make ends meet on £6 an hour. Another way of looking at it why would you. if you are a lot better off on benefits you would be a bit of a mug to work. There are lots of people in this country who have the work ethic we just need to re balance they way we give the hand outs. Empty belly = keen to work especially now its getting cold as well.
  8. Used to sell thousands of pounds. Dont bother now I would rather give my stuff to a good cause rather than a crook or skin flint. If you are a private seller you get 20 free listings a month just start the item at the price you want for it. If it does not sell you loose nothing. There are alot of pale crane necked people who sit on ebay waiting for people to make a mistake in their listings. I tend only to do personal collection only with cash prefered. Rather than a stroppy courier turning up 2 days late and charging the buyer twice.
  9. I was sitting here scratching my head thinking that pic was of the old 3.1 bullet proof engine and not the common rail engine. So I think you answered it for me
  10. I never meant to join an argument more a quest for info to understand both sides of the story. You answered all my questions and even supplied links I have seen a few times on hear a new poster advertising their products without contributing any paid advertising or contributing to the forum. The fact that you are clearly not doing this and yours is the banner above is great. I wish you luck with your business its hard enough to find something with profit in to put food on the table.
  11. I hear what you say and have no argument with you. I see your set up and see why you do what you do. If I still did logs I would look into the same arrangement. Very few people make a decent generator in the uk and those that do are 30% more expensive so I cant sell them. Just seems a shame we pay people to sit on their backsides and drag low cost heavy materials thousands of miles rather than invest produce and compete in our own work force.
  12. I am not really putting up a very good argument as I cant be bothered to debate with someone called forestry who does not actually excist. No company name, No email address, location or website address anywhere. For all I know a 14 year old kid.
  13. Yes I wear clothes from overseas. Do I have a choice we make very little clothing in the uk now. You can still make a good profit and run an ethical business. What is the minimum wage in Latvia do they even have one ? the cost of living is much lower in Latvia including the cost of housing so no way we can compete with that. Most large companies are looking to buy at a £1 and sell for £4 and leave the producer with 20p
  14. Good reply I should have responded like this my self but to be honest I was struggling to see anything positive coming from it. Often I find the attitude in the uk is as long as I fill my bank account up enough no matter how, I will be fine and stuff everyone else. If you can keep the money in your local economy your enviroment will be better for it.
  15. Hell of a quick way to make kindling do they do a bagging system as well
  16. We could all buy cheap products from abroad to sell to our fellow country men but where do our customers get their wages to buy our products if we put them all out of work. What happens to all the skills when we decide chinese tools are not worth getting out the packet. Not everyone can make formula one car parts and war heads.
  17. I had a really old series 3 which would not have passed an inspection I was the only one that used it around my own house and yard. In the end it creaked and moaned so much I sold it. Another one now would be really useful but how often and how much does it cost to get the crane tested.
  18. You can not do a non vat invoice if registered. You would be taking a big risk as what comes in needs to add up to what goes out.
  19. I would imagine a cash pest is someone who wants to pay with cash to avoid the 20% vat. Then sell the logs 5% cheaper than everyone playing by the book.
  20. We new the end was near for ebay when you could list using an iphone. At least before you had a fixed address. Its the auction where crooks look for gullible tight fisted bargain hunters.
  21. I am 46 cant do it 3 times in one night even if she was 20 years younger.
  22. If I had a wife 30 years younger than me I would pay the first quote that hit the mat and get some viagra down my throat.
