  1. this is how the tether should be configured. this is a stiff tether from ABR. Sterling Rope also makes a rope wrench specific tether. I use one carabiner and one fixed cheek pulley. the Stiff tether should be always with a corner trap on the wrench
  2. the hitch is furthur from your bridge with the hh by about two and half inches Very easy to get used to though.
  3. I will say that I use the Harrison rockets and other beanie bags and I did the math and I have spent quite a bit on bags. I have sprayed quite a bit of lead over peoples backyards in my throw-bag career even from the HRs. I dont think the expense of the Rope Knight should be an issue. As long as you dont lose it. dont know how many 12 dollar throwbags I have lost over the years. I will have to revisit it using the screwlink basket throw. That was definitly the area I had the most difficulty as well as quickly untying and retying as I dont like crash any throw weight to the ground but rather untying them and only pulling the string back through after a miss. Thanks Thomas. Especially for the rope shield which has gotten my rope through some tough tight crotches.
  4. Good post joe, and i have to add that the rw was not designed with anything but a solid hitch in mind. I still have no experience with a rw with Art products. Althougj there is literature that says you shoukd not work position with a hitch on a static line. Thete is nowhere that says you should not be on a hitch on a static line. Footlocking case in point.
  5. Jerel converse is the climber that used the wrench in the masters to win the midwestern chapter of the ISA
  6. The rope wrench (with a hitch has been used by the winning climbers in the Masters from the following ISA chapters: From the Wisconsin chapter Joe House, the Ohio chapter, Jay Butcher (2011) the Indiana chapter Jeff Clark, the New York chapter Jeremy Pasinault, and the Midwest chapter (forgot his name at the moment). It was used also by the winning climber of the Charlotte invitational (non ISA) as well as the Geezers 40+ comp in Florida. It is all up to the local chapter.
  7. I was slighty confused to the reason why the rope wrench was allowed at the ITCC 2012 doubled line but not single line. It was not designed for double line. I don't know why it would be safer double line than single line. Weird, but it was a big step forward. I still climb on my "prototype" wooden wrench from time to time. It has been specifically stated by ART that their devices are only meant to be used in a ddrt system. which might make using it with a wrench at a comp difficult.
  8. a prototype of what?
  9. 11 mm is a little loose in it. Its designed fir the poisin ivy, tachyon, vortex, imori class of ropes. Not so much for the velocity or blaze.
  10. it is not adjustible. designed for 12-13 mm ropes. the logistics of testing the adjustible was a real headache.
  11. I see no reason to buy the ZK-2 if you have a zk-1. As long as you have a wrench that works and you are able to climb on a single line when you need to. The zk 2 will be a bit different but it accomplishes the same purpose. I dont want to discourage people from buying the zk2 though!
  12. offseting the HC does kind of work. If you set it with a big carabiner so it literally flips over when you start descending than you get a litte friction in the mix. it would work better if it were a solid bar. and you also have to hold the tail when you descend.
  13. escalator I found to be so light I can hardly get it to the ground to get my saw tied on. I think it may be filled with helium. It always wants to float around and tangle in the tree. Never thought a rope could be too light. Its very stiff and cable like so it runs through tools a little choppy as well. I believe that a loosely tied bowline could fall out in no time. It is a nice attractive rope though. great for foot locking and ascent.
  14. this is a clear problem with trying to define and standardize hitches though. In my opinion no two hitches are alike. The CE lanyard is no longer a CE lanyard once its been tweaked correct?
  15. Fate revolver or kong robot works better than an eight in full configuration and allows you to switch directions if need be.
  16. Here is more that I have written about the rope wrench. sorry, it doesnt seem like the static pull tests copied correctly because the files were to big or something. Submission For The Rope Wrench ZK.doc
  17. the drop test video has some very important demonstrations. please share with all RW users.
  18. these are a compilation of videos that I put together. I hope they are helpful. 19. Ive got one on my bridge and love it. How did they make it so strong yet so little?
  20. why must you take off the sling to bring your hitch climber back down to working mode? I just girth hitch a sling to my ring and attach it to my biner for my extended bridge, it stays on all the time. When I clip the biner back to my ring for work mode doesn't get in the way at all. I use an eye and eye hitch cord for my extended bridge for body thrusting
  21. Seems the swivel would be a bit clunky. I reaaly like my isc triple snap. Climbed with a ct double snap and was not used to it. The triple action is very natural.
  22. Whats unique about the ce lanyard vs any other lanyard? My lanyards are ussually made from ropes i have knicked and are in need of shortening.
  23. just send it back to DMM and request a new one. i am absolutely sure they wont have a problem with doing that for you. If you dont feel comfortable with it than they will help you out no doubt. I looked on all 3 of my hitchclimbers and didn't see anything like it. Probably nothing to worry about, but probably isn't good enough. DMM will take care of you.
  24. I find that it is very important with the hitch climber to clip your splice into the middle hole, not the top hole. I actually find the top hole quiet dangerous because it brings the hitch into close proximity to the splice and the top of the carabiner which can impede proper hitch function. The middle hole is key to proper hitch function and also why double holed hitch tending pulleys do not work very well. The key feature of the hitch climber that makes it a great tool is that middle hole which offsets your splice and carabiner just enough away from the hitch to not interfere with it. It takes a while to dial in a hitch that works for you, take your time with it.
  25. that is a kong robot, works okay but needs to be removed for straight up ascent.
