  1. nasty! its easy to tell people how something is going to bite, but pictures realy bring it home! cheers
  2. we recently had a climber come out of a tree, one of the first things the HSE asked for was the FULL Loler history on his kit.
  3. ps, he showed them how to tie bowlines etc, so just wondered if this was something he had taken upon himself or it was a recomendation which had passed me by
  4. We were all taught how to, how many of our knots have failed? I must tie 50-60 per year and none of mine have failed
  5. well my theory is........the instructor either aint got a clue what he's talking about or cant tie a double fishermans! I feel maybe both when the delta's and karabs had previously been marked using number punches and a club hammer and the old prussiks they were using
  6. I have just inspected some climbing kits for a Local Authority, they have just had refresher climbing at a local college and were told that they would not show them how to tie their own prussik loops as they were now not to be used for safety reasons?? Also a company in scotland has also recommended that only sewn prussik loops are to be used. Has anyone else heard of this? its fresh news to us! Although the instructor thought it is fine to climb on hi-vee rope using 16mm 3strand nylon loops (the sort Noha used)
  7. I had an 04 navara, sold it with 140,000 miles and it only had an ABS sensor. Then bought a D40 navara (07) biggest pile of shite ever! you need four wheel drive to set off on any hill when towing, averages 24 mpg, and nissan have had it more than me, due to warranty work! never again!!!
  8. Tried, theres nothing really, loads of stats from the states though, pictures just impress the danger more
  9. Can anyone help me? Im looking for pictures of chipper/grinder and general tree work accidents to use for training purposes.
  10. Peter! hows things? I have sold the eco-combi demo machine!! and a few demos lined up. Im looking for some different pictures to use on a power point for chipper courses, different cutting systems, etc, have you got any?

  11. A dead beaver would get through wood quicker than a Tinnywolf
  12. Not at all, with the professionalism he is showing no doubt he has a mog parked out back?
  13. ahem...... John, I'd like to call on a previous post on your chipper assessment photos thread... ''We had 6 people through today and we were finished nice and early. I dont know how they could make it last two days. Its not rocket science'' I rest my case, your honour. No flies on you - Respect! I think its down to the people who are being assessed. You or I would go through quickly muttering/grumbling on about poor value for money. If 6 thick buggers went through, no doubt it would take longer and the instructor/assessors would have to work a lot harder....................... chipper course is 4 novice or 6 experienced, you cant teach your granny to suck eggs, theory, can be applied and if the lads know their stuff, fair play, as we say up north early louse!
  14. Trainees can fill out a experienced user form and the trainer (within reason) can set the times
  15. [For me it was two pointless wasted days which is obviousley two days money up the swaney... luckily we've been quite quiet so it wasnt like we were on a deadline for anything, but the two days is a joke... The main point, I feel, is people think of how much a course costs, but while each of our lads is on a training course they are losing us £228 per man per day whilst they are not earning their keep! This NPTC 5 year refresher thing is going to cost an already suffering industry thousands, and Im not convinced it will save lives/ prevent accidents?
  16. It wont be long till he has a nicked saw and chipper in tow!! guard your gear!!!
  17. Thats £125 per person, its ridiculous, I had NPTC and before I could be verified for instructing I had to be assessed by a Lantra assessor.
  18. Hi, the training is exactly the same as Lantra, only its assessed by the instructor, a chipper course off us costs £125, inc assessment fee and if the four course members are from the same company, a chipper if required. This only takes one day inc assessment.
