  1. I took out a machine with 6"x6" rollers not so long ago, and it was just a pain in the arse! (wont say what it was - not a T/W!!!) and took it back to the yard and took out a machine with letter box rollers! I, personally, would rather sit at home, office, do maintenance that rive and chew on killing trees! same pay, less work?
  2. 10 years ago, possibly, I am not pushing greenmech, try something else! there are loads out there! The people who have T/W? is that all they have had? better than brashing down? Most cars are also made to a budget, I have a 07 nissan navara, I would love a range rover sport, but the companies budget wont spread to one? you get what your budget will go to??
  3. ours? premier (durham also), glendale, treewise, treeclear, bethell, tilhill, martins, I can make a comprehensive list, shall I go on? there are more large companies than you think. you might find that being more productive ALWAYS means more profitable! All buyers should try (as said earlier) every machine they can, any good dealer will give more than the normal 10 minute demo! I dont think a day or so is unreasonable, after all these are an expensive bit of kit?
  4. It does matter, big time when you have 5 crews to find work for! once one has finished off to help another etc!, you going to buy a less productive machine, so your lads can sit in the van longer, because you have no work for them?........ you heard of alex shigo?? work smarter not harder??????????
  5. I never said T/W were crap, just made to a budget You say that, but then you admit you wouldnt change you pto prem!! They are popular the same as ford fiestas, council houses and primark, CHEAP!! __________________
  6. we use 3.5 and 7.5 tonne, longer distance jobs, take 7.5, but its more about ease of job, 6"x6" rollers take loads of dressing out, esp blackthorn/hawthorn, try 6"x8 or 9" rollers see how much easier (=less strain/more profit) it is??
  7. but, can you make a profit on a budget? buy used instead of new?
  8. Give other machines a try and you might get converted to something better for you?
  9. adequate performance? is that realy good enough? in this day and age????
  10. as I said earlier, theres not much to beat it! Our lads were against greenmech, they had premier/jensen, now they love the greenmech!
  11. the new (3-4yr old) greenmechs are very good, no reliability probs, and if you you think the 10" is awesome, try the 19-28 its a beast! 7, 1/2" x 11" theres not much in the same size to beat it, if anyone knows of one, let me know!
  12. one point is, how many people on here have used anything other than a T/W
  13. is the fuel mix ok?? if not clean/replace the air filter and get a pal to adjust the air mix screw, sounds like its just running a little rich.
  14. My comments here are both personal and professional. I used to use t/w machines, and the bearings were a nightmare, the blades were a nightmare to change and they were made of tin, none us liked using them. Then the directors bought some schliesing's and they were an absolute pleasure to use!!! We then bought some Jensens, (when they were cheap) but they have shot right up in price. We now use (and deal) Greenmech, and they are now setting up dealers around the country so there is a decent dealer network, parts are next day and they are excellent value for money. If anyone is a T/W, Greenmech, Quickchip user, next time you are replacing your machine try ALL the brands to see which suits your needs best. But as for hiring poorly maintained machines, that should'nt cast a shadow over the brand, which ever it may be.
  15. anytime you want one, let me know. Are you attending the AA show?
  16. so did you vote t/w? its worth trying greenmech now, especialy the 34 td engine! and 6x9 feed rollers!!
  17. Everytime 6mth inspection, its always the same people who have a **** kit, almost siezed karabs, prussiks burned out, stuff missing, but hey, its their life not mine! are they careless or just stupid??? is that a new debate???
  18. Everyone should buy their own gear, they might, then, show some respect for it!
  19. haha! funny get, never realised that! but your right
