  1. but like I said, in fairness the older shape was spot on, great for towing, ok off road, but dont use the standard tyres, and was no bother. Greenmech use Isuzu's (we have one to) and they are sound also, PeteB has BF Goodridge tyres, tows a lot and has got over 100,000 miles on one set of tyres!
  2. The D40 has had, 4x4 switches changed twice, new clutch, rear body painted, new seat belts, something on fuel injections, drivers interior door panel, eats tyres and brakes, and wont set off on a hill when towing, oh yes, gets 23 mpg!!! and its only got 49,000 on the clock! ps all the above work was done under warranty!!
  3. I had a D22 navara, and never missed a beat in 120,000 miles, i have a d40 (new shape) and its a pile of crap! The old one used to tow jensen 430 track machines no bother. But take the girls tyres off and get some grabbers or similar.
  4. It could be, that it's too old to pollard? heavy reduction maybe?
  5. Whats wrong with that?? it a great job! lol!!!
  6. Barry Brown at wetherby branch is the bloke to talk to for a good deal.
  7. Only one way to find out, apply for a loan?. Only thing is they prob want 10% and vat. If that is a problem, you could always try leasing?
  8. Nice grain, and pattern though!
  9. The finance houses are still giving money, but are more selective as to who they give it. If you are a home owner, and have a reasonable credit history you shouldnt be to bad, tennants with loads of ccj's cant get a penny!
  10. What you might find is we dont use any pattern parts, we tried pattern blades once prior to being dealers and had loads of problems, so reverted back to genuine parts. The same lads are feeding all of the chippers, so unless they are just targeting the Jensens the crap theory is wrong! And even with our gandini, t/w and premiers we started a regeim of changing the blades weekly, the grrenmechs just seem to last longer!
  11. Try Anglo Scottish, ring Tim Derham on 0780 7717692. Thats whe we use, but, finance is getting very hard to get!!
  12. I know an old forester (70yrs) who still works, and rekons his theory has helped.......never work in the rain! and he started with an axe and cross cut saw!!
  13. If you are doing works to enable construction to take place you need one, thats basicaly how it was explained to me. They are not bad things, saves having to save money for your tax bill!
  14. Is 'fit for purpose' always best value? Im talking about whole life cost, not just purchase price
  15. It has, and this aint salesman talk (ring me and you know Im not!!!) our jensens get the blades done weekly, the greenmechs once a month (unless shite goes through! lol)
  16. Sorry, but (do research) Greenmech 6"x9", but the 34hp td is the dogs!! get a demo, (I think CBL are your local dealer)(but go on G/M web site and check!) A demo is free!, however if you like the machine, you must say so on here!!!! lol
  17. The only defense I will give greenmech is, they have almost completed setting up a nationwide dealer network, so you have great back up! I personaly, offer a free loan machine should anything happen to yours during warranty, who else does?
  18. Yes mark, your right, my point is, yes I may sell em, but I have spent many years working them and all I am saying is, dont concentrate on one make, open your mind, get a free demo and try something new! I will give anyone a machine for a couple days free! but want honest feedback, thats the only way maufacturers improve.
  19. mesterh, look again, you may just find, I cut and pested his comment! Why do i hate forums???
  20. read back a couple posts, that was cut and pasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Have I thrown insults? ...................TW 150- great machine, but I think the newer models have sacrificed some build quality for costs, s**t linkage etc. My case rests, as said...... loads of other machines out there! is what Mark said, not me!! i may say machines, but im not a hard seller! you buy what you want! I (as said at the start, am going on personal use)
  22. There are no machines perfect, no chippers, grinders or saws! butwe arnt talking 12" chippers, and unless you have a pile of brash waiting to be chipped it takes some time to fill a 3.5t. (I'm 40 amd been in this trade a long time!!) you store logs through the winter, so they are dry!!!!. TW 18/100G aint realy what we are talking about, thought this was forum was for tree workers, not gardeners? In your words..... TW 150- great machine, but I think the newer models have sacrificed some build quality for costs, s**t linkage etc. My case rests, as said...... loads of other machines out there!
