  1. These appear from an old wound at approx1.5m height on a beech......For the last two years they have fruited twice a year....late spring and then again sept/oct. My feeling was Pholiota Aurivella.....is it unusual fro a second fruiting? And secondly the tree is located close to a road and footpath.......what reccommendations/advice would you give for management of the tree.? Many thanks. Sean

  7. Certainly had a mad flush......i'm pretty certain that that it didnt need cleaning off completely though....a substantila height and lateral reduction would have done fine i'm sure.(leaving lots of live growth in the process.)

  10. Some 'bad new's needed covering up somewhere i should imagine...........wouldnt suprise me if he died years ago and they've waited for the right time to let it be known.....or he's still out there somewhere.
  11. Think it was prob a Norway.......i went on a wander away from a picnic and was pretty squiffy eyed from the sun and cider......didnt look too closely or it was all blurry!

  15. seems to like Pops in the park.....have seen it on a few now......mainly up on the main scaffolds........have a bracket that was taken from a poplar that had just been pollarded on the Golf course.

    I feel the same.......Vt wasnt doing it for me.......switched to this and cant fault it really........well i can but its small negatives are far outweighed.

  19. Hi David......tis a beautiful wood indeed......Managed by the National Trust.....plenty of work been going on. Looks like a substantial thinning regime in place........good to see everything either cut up into logs and stacked or left as it fell:thumbup1: They have been laying a series of wooden walkways, steps etc too. Hopefully they wont publiscise it too much though......go away its mine!!

  21. Yea not far from Virginia Water.....its Between Runnymead (magna carta) and Egham.
  22. Woke up at 7am and had an urge to go to a local wood which i hadnt visied for a while......so left everybody in bed and went off for a wander. Had a beautiful morning......the birdsong was incredible and felt totally refreshed and bouyant on my return.
