  12. I have been 'deadwooding' alot of tres in London with Masaria in the last couple of weeks. What we are finding is that yes there is dieback at the end of branches but once we climb into the canopy the picture changes somewhat. What look to be healthy limbs from the ground have complete cambium necrosis on the top side with the beginnings of fracturing. We are also finding far more deadwood in the canopy than can be seen from the ground. We have had limb failures also. See also the following thread. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/fungi-pictures/18177-splanchnonema-platani.html

Thats true mate....and needs to be done......but the arbs of the future are more likely to listen as they do not need to change decades of conditioning. Anyway we've all got our own missions and we can all call upon each other.

I've taught in schools and it is very rewarding......this is where i can se your 'teaching career' tony.....i know people on here have said they can see you teaching as i have but its the kids we need to be educating primarily. Getting in there early......sowing a seed within them, nurturing them.....Make them understand the futileness of breaking newly planted trees in the street, why that 'old rotten tree' which they see as pointless so therefore worthy of a ignited match is in fact a highly developed mini eco system.......there are alot of grants for education projects in this country. This is a very important mission and one which I am tentatively making steps towards. I'll be needing you mate.

Thats a depressing thought.....then its up to us to fight all the way to do all we can to stop thius from happening. We need to get into the schools and educate the kids
  19. I fyou going to learn German then this is THE MAN.......I have been doing his spanish course and it blows all others i have tried out of the water......he's a linguistic guru of the highest order! [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/German-Michel-Thomas-Complete-Course/dp/0340780657/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1306747393&sr=8-8]German With Michel Thomas Complete Course CD: Amazon.co.uk: Michel Thomas: Books[/ame] Tony.....i for one know exactly how frustrating it is not being where one would like to be.......how i wish i had gotten into the industry 20 odd years ago. With my passion and directions i want to go I know I would have far more knowledge than I do.......but hope fully Ive got the best part of 40 years left in me.....no need to give everything up at 65. I'm on my own path and feel lucky that I have many people around me....and people on here whom i can call on anytime for a lesson in whatever. I also feel that our journeys (all of us whom are interested in the same things) can work side by side in the future....whether that be as photographers, climbers, mycologists etc.) Its about like minded people pulling together, sharing knowledge, resources, friendships etc. To the future:thumbup:
