  2. Unfortunately it has.......the larger 'half' of the tree has collapsed. Think they were in the process of re-propping it. I'm going to have a look at it at the weekend so will get some pics although it hjas been fenced off.
  3. number 15's pretty cool too:thumbup1:
  4. Thought some of you would appreciate this.. Latest news, comment and reviews from the Guardian | guardian.co.uk
  5. Hi Gerrit.... Although i felled the tree I left a 1.3m stump which is awaiting grinding. However after i cut the segment from the base with the bracket on i was able to push my hand into the stem.....conservative estimate would be around 30- 40% sound wood.......the tree itself had been through the wars and was none too pretty and more than a little ragged!
  6. next step has already been taken.....twas a fell......
  7. Bracket living on cherry......so.......thought it may be ignarius although it doesnt have the fawn edge and the flesh seems too dark??? So toss up between applanatum and adspersum?? Over to you fungal freaks.
  8. My old firm works in Hackney....heres the details. The Tree Company

  11. Posted in the wrong forum mate.......what is the point of you being on this forum if you are going to belittle peoples contributions......I guess the 1000's of photos on this forum recording such things as fungi, insects, pests and diseases etc etc etc you find a waste of time also. ( although hopefully you are not such a @£$£@£$$ and you are merely on a wind up:001_smile:
  12. My new garden is a snails paradise and they seem to have taking a liking to my big fomes bracket.

  14. Think there are only 8 attendees so far and they are looking for 20 odd so sign up........Its about the Giant Polypore with Dave dawson:thumbup: Hi All, And finally.... on the 10th August we will be running a free online pilot lecture, places are limited to just 25 people on a first come first served basis. The idea behind this is that Tree Life are looking to see if we think there is mileage in running some online lectures for our candidates and we want to see if the technology lends its self to this. We have had one little group help us out with feedback and now were ready to test it with you all, we think! To register for the class you will need to click on the following link and register to join, Conundrum of the Giant Polypore Online Class by David Dowson. The lecture will be undertaken by Dave with me at his side to hopefully ensure that we get it right with the technology! All you would need is a 'headset' to listen in to the lecture; you will be able to ask any questions by writing in to the 'Chat Box' which you will see as you log in to the lecture. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on the number below or by email. Many thanks, Keely Dowson Tree Life A/C Ltd Tel/ Fax: 01162606939 Braemar Court, 1319 Melton Road, Syston, Leicester, LE7 2EN Home 'New Avenues for Learning .... 17. hey mate....i'll be seeing plenty of you i'm sure:confused1:
  18. Found the vaccum to be handy in the early days but once the caterpillars had made their pupation nests they were so solid that a hand in the bag was far easier and far quicker. Not my manor anymore.....have relinquished the reigns and moving to bristol......(might have a few stray caterpillars coming with me if you catch my drift:001_rolleyes:)
  19. Forget the vaccum.....i removed near on a 1000 nests this last month and evey single one of them with a tescos freezer bag!!
