  1. Couldnt have gone any better.....kids have settled into new schools remarkably well. That was the biggest worry. Im still suffering from a Richmond Park hangover. Realise how privileged I was to have worked on such an important site. Doing alot of council work. Some tedious jobs and some interesting ones. (Theres some fine old sites here.) and a real eye opener! Good to be seeing another side of the industry and part of my ongoing education.
  2. Time?? Whats that? First day since the move to bristol (3 months) that i have managed to get out. Got up at 7 this morning and off i went for a few hours. Was much needed to get out on my own. Walking, thinking, forgetting. Some great locations round here and very excited to exploring.
  3. No record of them with the ATF it seems. Will have to get them measured and registered.
  4. Went to see a small wood today in Henbury, Bristol. Was excited to find in surrounding meadows/fields a rich collection of Veteran Ash's and Oaks. Within spitting distance of the M5 and surrounded by the urban landscape I found some Gems including the big headgrow Ash:thumbup1: The magnificent oak in photo1 could really do with having the height and laterals reduced or before long this fine tree and the eco system it supports will be lost. Will enquire as to who the landowner is and generally make enquiries as to the management of the tree.
  5. Would be interested in taking a spore print for a positive id......any tips? Are you willing to divulge your thoughts on what it could be? Is it common/rare etc.? (Just out of interest) Thanks.
  6. Would that involve taking a spore print? Can go back for a re-visit if need be. Do you have a hunch as to what they are from the photographs though?
  7. Leaning towards a Pleurotus?? Cornucopiae perhaps.....gills seem to be darker though compared to photo in book:confused1:
  8. So another fungi thread........since dipping a toe into this fungi lark i have a hard drive slowly getting full of piccies with many unidentified. Will endeavour to try and identify and post here and stand to be corrected in many cases im sure. All help appreciated. Starting off.......saw these this morning growing on the inside of a hollowed veteran oak... a positive id please as I cannot seem to find them in my book or in directory. Thanks.
  9. An Interesting record newly discovered and now in the Hands of the Woodland trust This incredible record details all the tree planting undertaken by thousands of schools, parishes, organisations and homeowners in 1936/7, in gardens, parks and public spaces, and even names the individuals across the UK and the world who planted the trees. /www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/PublicFiles/index.html#/xxvi/
