  1. I would be up for lending a hand if needed let me know details and updates if needed
  2. Fuel bil for the truck is 300/400 quid occasionally more each month so its about a tank each week 300 odd mile a week.
  3. Oak from today spec was to deadwood, ended up reduceing t all round the factory has solar panels on the roof which was blocking abit so first reduction of the year im knackered!! All pics are after shots i didnt get any before shots since was ment to be a deadwood. i
  4. i would price it for 2 days so £800 (because ive been there and done it with people saying greenhouses etc will be moved it hardly ever happens!) as said i would use a truck to remove woodchip 3 or 4 loads of chip i would guess 1-2 loads timber. a roll on roll off skip would be very overkill we had couple massive conifers i brought in a roll on roll off skip we didnt even fill it.
  5. half of its gone already, its worse than it looks the green house is like 7ft wide there was 2 ft behind the greenhouse then the customers fence and the tree was about 1 ft inside the neighbours garden and if i remember right i think there was a pond or something infront of the greenhouse so i remember it was the 2 ft gap the chucking zone wasnt worth it that zip line just tip tie everything and wizz it straight down the line to the chipper doesnt take long to set up the pulley in the birch was set from the ground so was retrevable from the ground saved loads of time.
  6. heres a pic of a similar set up used for a different reason a redirected speedline set up to get it over the greenhouse.
  7. i have the diagram still its not very good but here it is.
  8. i did have a video of that until my youtube channel got hacked and deleted didnt have a hard copy of the video so its lost along with all my early stuff unfortunatly
  9. Are these tower blocks the ones near the premier inn in glasgow city center i stayed there a year or 2 ago drunken few days and there was big tower blocks round the corner for demolition it would be awesome to watch them come down!
  10. Nice pics Was a good day nice to meet some new faces, catch up with sum old 1's good day look forward to the next 1
  11. Great video reg i dont think ive got the stomache for them trees it really is something else up them skinny ones topping them out!
  12. Wondered what you ment till it clicked, thats gareths chipper he bought it couple months ago doesnt look new after last 2 days we had to winch it up 100ft steep embankment to get it in the back for a couple of trees and winch it back. Still yet to use mine on a job lets hope the high winds blow down some trees for me
  13. Thanks Well i had feeling it would i didnt think would be that bad though it was just cause it caught up in that holly good positioning means no broken limbs from it!
  14. quick vid of some of yesterday and todays contract climbing. only things that made it hard were the dragging out of branches and the annoying hollys grown through the first tree other than that the horrible weather. the stuff gets bigger going through the video so it does get a little bit more interesting.... maybe. [ame] [/ame]
  15. thats a good post reg its no excuse i no but i turned upto this job hadnt seen it i was just told it was a snapped off branch, i only had limited gear with me i needed the big strop to attach the pulley leaving me nothing that i could use to back up the device. no excuse i no but job needed to get done.
  16. good thread keep it up. my say on rigging is as said not alot to do with equipment but how its used. you need a climber in the know to set the sling/slings in the right place to avoid targets/ balance or even tip or butt tieing to make it easier to man handle once the ground crew can reach it. also good climbers will have a plan if they leave a little stub at the top to give it that bit extra swing this way into the garden etc etc need to look at the tree see what you can use to aid the dismantle for all the team. also need good groundsmen to not shockload/ let things run without a good groundsmen rigging can go all to pop no matter how good everything else is. my main tip for rigging is as in the pictures NO STUBS that should be rule number 1 they make everything such a chore.
  17. this isnt my job i said to gareth whos job it was the work people have done on it in the past has done it no favours they have lions tailed every limb which would make reduceing it hard much harder but i think they owners are very safety consious they had previous tree surgeons in to just climb up there massive cedars to check for signs of stress etc its down to gareth to tell them what he thinks i told him it needs reducing really.
  18. i find stilts to much work i prefer a horse or my pogo stick
  19. unfortunatly the side these limbs have been sheding is right next to the wall for the garden and that runs along a main road so if it goes it will completely block that road and hit a couple of houses and make a right mess of the tarmac but i reackon it will out live us all its a very cool tree
  20. i hope not tony.... the drag is about 2 football pitches across a spotless lawn then through 2 tight gateways to get to the nearest access which is just big enough for a transit to get to i think a removal would cost many thousands we were chatting today me and gareth thinking what a job that would be fun to dismantle not to clear up lucky id be the climber
  21. i choose to use that anchor ideally i could have gone right out that would have helped get it off the main stem and ripping the bark. i was happy with that anchor because it was close to the main stem with the fact it wasnt holding alot of weight off the anchor majority was on the ground, what would have been more acceptable was have a high rigging point on the main stem and then re directed off where i did it but i was more than happy with it as it was if im honest.
  22. climbing for gareth smith today at a old hall has some massive trees there this is 1 of a pair of copper beech that are both massive, they have some even bigger cedars lovely place, we were working on this monster beech tryed are best not to remove any more bark than already had been removed by the shed limb the ammount of wood off that branch alone filled gareths truck with just timber big job to remove it if ever the time came! wonderful tree! i climbed right to the tips cause i just had to its a good 75foot tall but probs 90 ft accross the crown.
  23. all got cut up into little bits unfortunatly just to tight to get it off in 1 otherwise we would have. shame really. yes the back half of the tree has been completly cut off to where we cut it to it would have been massive if it had been untouched with the picture of the bur i was standing in the hollow center of the back section.
