    Stihl 391

As a purely firewood saw it has to be the 391, It's what it's designed for, to just chug along all day ringing up with plenty of grunt! 550 is for chucking about, snedding etc. Wouldn't be as productive.
  2. Still no post from silky: D Hanging much?
  3. Tapatalk to view this and other forums on the move (loads quicker on phone signal than the full website) bank apps are useful (I have the Natwest one, very good )
  4. Bartlett's near bristol are looking for a climber.
  5. Just placed my order, good luck everyone!
  6. Planning this journey myself in 2 years ish. 6 months working, then a couple of months travelling around oz and nz afterwards. The dream, eh?
  7. Ez mate, bit of banter going on, nothing to warrant that response! Did you not see Huck's raspberry Smiley?

    gert big rat

.22 was effective from the bedroom window when we had a problem. Not too loud. I think the rats final squeak was louder!
  9. yup, usually bring back a couple of 5 gallon barrels of the stuff!
  10. Silky and eggs, try to make it to a proper cider producer to get takeaways (better than the mass produced thatchers etc) My favourites are Wilkins in Mudgely, nr Wedmore and Hecks (get the browns variety cider), in Street they both sell for around 85p a pint i think in the gallon containers. have fun!!!
  11. I agree on that after using both 064 and 660. the 046 i used seemed to keep up with the 064, but the 660 is a different beast
  12. It's one prize that you would love to receive but would hate to use.
  13. I choke my pulley saver most of the time (as in putting some of the rope through the loop as well as the pulley+prussic. Never got it stuck.
  14. Nice one, I'll wait a couple of weeks after release date to buy mine (asking as the reports are positive!)
  15. Hitches don't really self tend unless you have a 'sporty' vt with 30ft of rope below. And the knack with the spiderjack is a shorter bridge and feeding it through. one of the suppliers should really get in contact with petzl to hand out a few for proper trials from real people (like arbtalkers) so people get an idea of what they are buying before forking out £180.
  16. This is a pretty big life purchase mate, don't rush into it. Sleep on it and see what you feel tomorrow. Perhaps go outdoors will let you have a test slurp?
  17. Someone said in the other thread that it self tended with 8ft of rope below (they tried it, not just hearsay)... What mm rope did you use?
  18. All sounds like a bit of a nightmare to me. Either have one or t'other. James testcricket put some knobbly tyres on his tranny and says they are great off road, not so much on... If it's just fencing, a normal 4x4 towing a trailer would be a better setup. Then have a tranny for arb work.
  19. That's really really kind, thank you mate
  20. Hi sam, thanks for that - is this them? I'll phone them tomorrow. J Gliddon & Sons Ltd I'll pm you in a sec cheers
  21. Cheers mate, i'll bare that in mind if I don't get anything else offered, another job for spud! and it's PAYE. Everything else is supplied, good choice of climbing gear, ppe etc. I'm not too bothered to be honest, I'd quite like my own saws (for if I need them outside of work).
  22. Not really, we have always bought klein's off the leccy board for £50 brand new.
  23. Hi all, I need a 50-60cc saw as the company I have got a job with does not provide saws. I was going to get a nice shiney 550xp from jonsie, but work has been very sparse over the last month so I just can't afford it. If you have one that you can spare, I would gladly buy it from you. (I cannot face buying one from ebay again. Once stung twice shy an all that..) I'm starting at the beginning of January so could do with one before then. Thank you
  24. impressive!
