  1. you aren't a member of the 'land rover appreciation society' then? we did the same size one next to it last week so its tried and tested. does sound a bit sketchy i must admit
  2. we have a big leaning h.chestnut to fell on weds. landrover + winch = win
  3. can i add to that - he is one of the nicest/funniest blokes i have ever met and it was a pleasure to be taught by him at college.
  4. nice. next on the list should be ally checkered plating for the bonnet
  5. i might join. i don't own one but the firm i work for has two 110's - i love them
  6. hopefully i'll be able to get one for carving before all the stock runs out....
  7. i've used a husky 346xp every day for the last couple of months and found it to be really good for smaller stuff with a 15" bar. plenty of guts even for bigger stuff with an 18" bar on it. if you are using it for long periods it would be much better than the 357 because of the weight.
  8. hmmmm..... perhaps.......
  9. i have been told to just take your time when positioning for cuts - visualise how the tree will react. or just get someone else to do it
  10. i don't like rope grabs for the simple reason of not being able to extend the flipline under tension. plus its easier to shorten it with one hand using the setup i have. it's really good to work with.
  11. i have a micro pulley/distel setup on my flipline. not a great picture but you get the idea.....
  12. 10 week full time course is £1,800 ish you get much better (or rather more) training than the week long intensive courses and learn alot about tree ID'ing and biology etc. you will get 30,31,38,39 & first aid + level 2 qualification. i recommend it highly.
  13. In Tazmania 'Wow' is all i can say. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPL0FnaXUyg&feature=related]YouTube - the very real tree surgeon[/ame]
  14. theres been quite a few dead limbs on the road today in suffolk.
  15. (in reference to a girl who has been around the block a few times) "it's like chucking a sausage down a hallway"
  16. he seems quite calm about it all. “It was a freak accident and I just have to get on with my life now.” big payout i hope. (no doubt it'll be a fraction of what council/gov PA's get for straining one of their fingers through typing on a keyboard)
  17. found the link Daily Star: Simply The Best 7 Days A Week :: News :: Pals help save Shaun’s life

    Losing keys

I have just spent the last hour working up a sweat (i do actually smell now!) checking everywhere for my car keys and they turned out to be under the cushion on the computer chair. I sat back down to go on t'net and heard the sweet sound of keys jangling. My hair must have receded back an inch or so! Phew.... Anyone been in the same situation with something important to go to? (luckily all i wanted to do is go to the shop )
  19. I'm fresh meat!
  20. just listened to that cheers - it is about 26 mins into that link. did i hear correctly - uk logging championships are in Diss this weekend? as in Diss, Norfolk? its only 10 miles away so that would be great!
  21. just got back from cornwall (sorry i didn't manage to meet up with you), and i'm gutted to be back home. very tempted to go back. i'll let you know - might be a bit tricky to do next week though....
  22. you're probably better off calling up all the companies on the IOW (got to be no more than two surely??)
  23. haix pro protector. end of thread.
  24. come to think of it - that £80 may be the hire rate of chippers. are grinders cheaper to hire generally?
