  7. yes, as you descend on you hitch watch the rope going into the hitch from underneath, if the rope is twisting anti-clockwise get hold of your hitch know with thumb and finger and twist it clockwise till the rope stops twisting and vice versa for clockwise twist:biggrin:
  8. whereabouts is that? congrats by the way, first rung of the ladder and all that:thumbup:
  9. Me too, never used srt but do understand how it works I think its better for overall immediate access especially in bigger trees plus there seems to be more variation when up in the tree adn being able to use ddrt from srt still, it'll be a while before i consider swapping over, stuck in the ddrt ways:biggrin: going to get a sj at some point though, then we'll see where it goes from there:thumbup:
  10. Are you sure the first one is S. giganteum? I nearly said Q. frainetto but there is one near me and the leaves look different, Mirbecks Oak looks like those leaves (Q. canariensis) And the third i would never have got:blush:
  11. what hitch do you also? some hitches on decent twist the rope, there is a way of stopping this by holding the hitch in a certain way:biggrin: Taylor Hamal told me that one, and it works:thumbup:
  12. or climb to the top of a tall tree, dangle your rope down in a clean free striaght line and untwist it that way:biggrin:
  13. First one looks like a Cryptomeria japonica or other Cryptomeria sp. or variety Second one is Quercus canariensis And third is a Pinus sp. but unsure which one without a close up:biggrin:
  14. SJ can be used on DdRT alone, use the RW with SJ on SRT:biggrin: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

    Work !!!

only splice one end in my opinion and yes the sequoia srt has an extra supporting body attachment for footlocking, i have the normal sequoia and never had any problems with it make sure you get a handsaw, silky zubat or the like:biggrin:
  22. hope he recovers! on another note do you not find it mad, a minute or two earlier/later due to maybe being stuck in traffic or not and he would've been fine! at any point a choice that day or a 50/50 decision would've directed him away from that situation, makes you think about fate really??
  23. RobArb

    Work !!!

also, would you need a 60m rope? i have a 45m rope with spliced eye and find it a pain sometimes when redirecting all that rope so the tail end has a smooth exit line! just a thought thats all, all the other stuff you mention seems ok for a basic kit:biggrin:
  24. exactly, we can guess and offer opinion, but to make clear cut statements about what has/will happen/ed from photos alone shouldn't be recommended:biggrin:
  25. RobArb

    Work !!!

you don't really need a hitchclimber on your sidestrop, a normal pulley will do
