  1. to be honest, apart grom the BL of a few oaks, Fh and Ls also don't like to show their faces in this northern climate what also doesn't help is the topography of lancashire and the fact we are still a very much an industrial part of the country (manchester, liverpool, bolton, wigan, burnley etc etc) that the microclimate is also different too AND.... our soil conditions (check LandIS) are very different, plus lots of flood plains surrounded by the pennines and the north wales mountain range

  9. Unfortunately we live in an ever changing and 'upgrading' world, it'll be skills like these that get lost amongst the rat-race that is current civilization A mad max society looms and these skills will help carry us through:biggrin: there are however two sides to a coin and as stated sometimes this can go to far and is cruel

  13. don't know how it would be girdling, it literally is in the middle of nowhere and only goes 180degrees round the tree not 360? can't tell from that pic but the lean of the tree starts at that buckle, as if that side has given way a couple of inches
  14. Because it's an immotive subject... Does anyone remember a couple of years ago, there was a drama (fictional but thought provoking) on itv with christopher eccleston who was a down and out alcoholic who disappeared for 2 weeks and came back thinking he was the son of god? No one believed him till miracles started happening (turning night into day at maine road, surviving an explosion etc) and then every one started to "believe" Once he had got everyones attention he managed to denounce religion completely.. Suddenly all the wars stopped, and the world was a happier, quieter place to live..... Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
