  1. Our native elms are a real pain to ID correctly. Firstly, the species show a lot of natural variation and then add to that they're a promiscuous bunch and hybridise easily. In short, it's an elm and I dunno which one
  2. Errr.. You seem to be minus a link. I've been to talks on all of those systems, other than the CTLA, and worked with CAVAT. It will be interesting to see them directly compared - and contrasted - with each other at the one seminar. For anyone involved in tree management or working for LAs, I think that will be a very worthwhile day. I've added the days into the AT calendar, so there's no excuse for forgetting these dates now.
  3. Have you got your various bits of weaponry under your pillow and your your Spidee Man pj's handy incase they come back for another attempt tonight?

It's fun to stay at the Y M C A.... La la. Sorry, I konw those tool belt thingies are useful, but they do make you look like an extra from The Village People.
  5. Yes, that seems to be the idea.
  6. Geoff, that's amazing . I really like the head on pics. Excuse my ignorance, but is that set up in a studio or in the field?
  7. They obviously have no concept of RPAs
  8. For all of you into your bugs n' beasties, there was a short aticle on one of Britain's rarest dragonflies on last night. It starts at about 18.30 minutes in. Or you could watch the lovely Bear Grylls up until then BBC iPlayer - The One Show: 20/06/2011
  9. Ooops, I seemed to have slipped into semi geek mode there. I'll try not to do that too often and stick to posting pics instead
  10. They're definately an interesting group. I especially like the ones with the aquatic larval phase; how could you not love something called a rat tailed maggot??? What's your ID skill like with them? I can get it down to hoverfly.... And leave it there. They'e a nitemare
  11. There's some nice one's on your flickr page as well Geoff
  12. This oak's not really that hungry, more a little peckish, I'd say
  13. Silver spotted skipper on creeping thistle (I think...). He was a very obliging chap an allowed me to get in very close with the cam' phone. It was absolutely nothing to do with what I was actually supposed to be looking at !
  14. NO! And I wouldn't want to either. I'm not the vainest of women, but even I have my limits They seem to have the worst features of both visors and glasses, and they still let dust through.
  15. After getting fed up with crap in my eyes and a trip to A&E with a colleague with a scratched cornes, I started to wear safety glasses under my visor all the time. Yes, they are a bit cumbersome and can steam up, but I would much prefer that than risking my eyesight. It's bad enough as it is!
  16. Arrgghhhh!!!! There are some very good reasons for staying in bed for long amounts of time - that ain't one of them . You poor thing. I hope you've got the kids trained to bring you tea and magazines on the hour? A big, get well soon hug to you x x x
  17. No offence to either you or Mrs Lancstree, but I think I'd rather give my vote to this competitor: Vote For paul From london | Next Model Competition 2011 | Next Official Site
  18. Hi gorgeous, how are things with you? I'm really good thanks - other that I'm starting to forget what you look like it's been so long since I've seen you
  19. If half of AT mysteriously disappears this weekend and we find out it's because they've been banned, we'll now know why
  20. I've never heard of 'em, so I done a bit of Googling and come up with a link for all their shop addresses and also their ebay store In-EXCESS UK LTD - Discount Stores in Salisbury, Southampton, Ringwood, Parkstone & Christchurch In-Excess Surplus Stock items - Get great deals on Clothing, Tools items on eBay.co.uk Shops!
  21. That is one great photo:thumbup1:. I have only been lucky enough to catch a couple of fleeting glimpses of them in this country and they are just so quick! They certainly didn't hang around for my amateur photoghraphy skills.
  22. When I win the Lottery, I now know who I'll be commissioning to kit out my new house . That's lovely work and it's good to see something still being made by a skilled craftsman.
  23. I haven't been since they put the new fencing up and stopped all the free entry I'm far too old and sensible to want to play in the mud these days.
  24. Lookin' forward to a whole new load of your posts, T, if for no other reason than some of the more, erm, heated debates you sometimes provoke My myco' knowledge is still very limited and while I do find some of the stuff you, Monkey and Fungus post a bit hard going, I find them entertaining and very informative. I appreciate that you are more than happy to share your time and experience with us all. Right, that's more than enough ego massaging for one night .
