  1. OMFG Fair play for trying mate, what a nightmare all round. Best wishes.
  2. I have a few mates who had them on the road, and there are a couple still working on heavy all terain wrecking down here. Awesome trucks. BTW, have you seen this?magirus-duetz classic lorry/truck 4x4 (like unimog)1965 on eBay (end time 12-Sep-09 07:56:15 BST)
  3. JD speak to Francis Thomas in Bodmin garden machinery and get yourself some stihl RCX ripping chain for that bad boy.
  4. This is quite an interesting link:::: Land Rover Madness - Have you got it? - Michael Calvert's 6x6 Dropside pick-up ::: and this too:Perenties - Australias 6x6 Land Rovers and maybe this:Land Rover 6x6 There are a lot of 6x4 landrovers, and quite a few 6x6 out there.
  5. Or the big cabstar, but with 4x4.....is it called a canter?
  6. The ranger or mazda 2500 both have had recalls for that fuel pump around the 2004 models. my mate had two pumps on his 54 plate and then it got recalled. He said it wasnt the only one the garage had had back.(tregonnings)
  7. On a 4x6 the drive is on the front four wheels, with the rear axle being a 'floating' axle. They are considerably better off road than a 4x4, and a 6x6 such as a carmichael is better again. I have a hicap based 110 tipper and i have just been out to look at the plate which states 3500kg gross. I have put helper springs in it too. As far as i know it doesnt have a beefed up chassis though.
  8. Black poplar you say...........rare......... Actually the one in rings was rotten to the core, amillaria, and the other two were coppiced.
  9. Do you know what breed of horse it is in that picture, or what breeds are best? My missus has about 48 (i think) at the mo, and is always changing and buying/ selling. I would be up for a tool like that.
  10. And he shouted back "yes,it does doesnt it".......
  11. Mick, i am very impressed by the finish on that hedge, really neat job mate:thumbup1: Stevie- hows that little grav fed GM machine doing?
  12. Jod done i would have said. Good reply mate.
  13. Treated mysself to the Blu ray box set of that series. That episode is awesome. Live the bit when the heli flies up around those giants' canopies.
  14. That explains alot.....i only ever go in the front.
  15. David, i would say that if you had a quad tech box for your kit on the back then the 130 would be a very good tool. Off road they are unrivalled, for towing they are unrivalled- and they will tow 3500kg with ease, and a lot more than that illegally. No other 4x4 can tow more than 2.2 ton (i think!!) as the others arent permanent 4x4. If you are towing a trailer then dont bother to get the back converted to a tipper, just use it as a tool box. Winch-wise i think the choices are fairly simple. For most things the warn that Penfold mentioned is perfect- very well built, quick and powerful. If you are pulling large lumps of timber around on the floor then dont even entertain an electric winch as you will burn it out (solenoids) repeatedly, if its for self recovery or felling then perfect. For heavy duty use stick either a hydraulic winch of for long heavy pulls get a pto winch such as the Superwinch H14w PTO driven thing. They will never overheat and you have 5 speed to use which makes them very versatile, and all the grunt of the engine behind them. I have to disagree somewhat with Ed on the comfort thing- i find my defender perfect for me, but you are a pretty big guy so may find it cramped, it is personal opininon to a certain degree. They are fairly noisy, and yes, they do leak water around the doors a bit though, but i am told that the newer ones arent too bad compared to the sort of thing i have got(1995 model). If the council is paying, just get the land rover brochure and go for your life!!
  16. top stuff mate. Just make sure those girls of yours dont wear them out prematurely!!LOL
  17. Had a lad camping in one of our fields who was down here for some big bmx meeting....he is the neighbour but one. It was not a pretty sight apparently.
  18. That explains alot of your posts that are made in the wee hours:lol:......
  19. Local dealers, or on line if i am putting an order in....i Prefer stihl to oregon chain, and one of my local dealers gets all their stihl stuff off you guys anyway!!
  20. Haha, fair play mate. My missus introduced me to my physio...............but uses a chiropractor herself???? Betst of luck with the whole harness thing, its a lottery, and i was lucky enough to be able to road test a load at once.
  21. Hes probably out buying heavy duty body armour right now........hideous spiky monsters:scared1:
  22. I have two discs missing which have disintegrated each side of my L4 (lumbar, fourth one up from bottom of spine) vertabra, and the L4 has moved forwards so far that in the MRI scan you can see a 90degree bend in my spine looking from the side. I have used a petzl and willans, and fing that the only thing that i can climb all day in is the weaver, which has a huge back support which is really rigid. Work positioning is key too, i find that i have to be more aware of how i am twisting, and will reposition if necessary. Staying still is bad too, so get back to excercise. Oh, and tell that chiropractor to stuff it and go and see a registered physiotherapist. Chiropractors are classed as complimentary medicine at best and charlatans out for nothing but money at worst by the general medical council. They arent seen as mainstream medicine, as most of them will charge you for an x-ray they may not and should not need, and then almost exclusively treat you with manipulation(bone crunching) whether this is what you need or not, as this is how their basic training is provided. My mate had a prolapsed disc and a chiroprator nearly paralysed him for life thrugh manipulation. Obviously i am generalising, but be very very aware of who you let treat your spine.
