  1. I think the best way to get a reaction from the old bill is to tell them they better get there soon as you have a gun trained on guys presently robbing you. Armed response have a sub 5 minute response time. Or get a big dog. Pikies dont get out of their vehicle if there is a dog running around. I speak from experience of the tossers.
  2. Or order a hard top 90, claim the vat back as its a van top and therefore a work vehicle, and go to exmoor trim who will supply some of the old style side facers which also fold away. Job done. Or buy a real defender with at least a 110 wheelbase.
  3. Yeah- you could explain to her that it isnt a saw at all, just a wannabe, and that your 660 is coz you need A SAW, not a replacement....
  4. No worries there. Mr flexible me. Can you keep your legs straight, bend over and touch your nose on your knees.....and go so far off topic you have completely derailed the thread.......:blushing:sorry .
  5. Thats an interesting thought mate. I'll keep that in mind. I have heard so many different things about peoples experiences with harneses/ bad backs that i try to take it all on board, esp when its from people who have been at it a lot longer than me.
  6. Nah- climbed in one last week- lovely to have a herness you cant feel, but it was no where near supportive enough for me- i had to be sooooo careful. Luckily i was just installing a line for the winch at the top of a beech, but i twisted slightly and nearly went into spasm. The weaver is big and cumbersome in comparison, but i can do pretty much what i like in it without fear of repurcussions. plus its made of leather..(dirty snigger.......uh uh uh.)
  7. Hahanice one stevie. New comfy geckos arriving tomorrow courtesy of Mr Jones of course.Yippee!!! Ive got my fairy costume too.......and a golden star.
  8. Now your talking- could be job done Mr B!
  9. It really is inspirational stuff. I have been planning a reccy climb with a mate of a sitka he reckons is about 150' tall, and he reckons the first branch is too high to get a throwline into without a big shot(if that what they're called), and am very nervous to tell the truth, although excited too. Dont even know how far i will get before i bottle it............so to see Graeme that high up a tree that is ratchet-strapped together, looking as cool as if he was on a climbing frame with his kid at the local park, whilst chogging down that knackered tree is just awesome.
  10. Yeah- sort of squidgy.......(thats a technical term BTW!!)
  11. Haha....and then watch as the numpty groundy puts it in with the end of the point uppermost and gets whacked in the chin.....they get what they deserve sometimes.
  12. Those fibreglass line poles for the leccy work have a hook on them............thats the easiest way i have found for a tree within about 6 metres.
  13. Please please please can we get some distinction between travellers (crusty bus dwelling hippy dropouts) gypsies(transit van and chrome trailer types) and pikies( the sort that do what you are describing). Thanks.
  14. Could well be. Mine has broken down once since i bought it 6 years ago, and that time it cracked the head in 3 places, did a set of rings in one cylinder and cracked the piston crown in two.......so made up for its reliability in a big way. So i had the engine rebuilt at a cost of £2600, and given how she goes now it was worth every penny and more:thumbup1: Love the chip box on the back of yours. Do you fill that Dean?
  15. Good point. I have to climb that one as there are targets alll round and no access for machinery. Found these lurking at the back of the log pile too. First 2 on acer, the other on oak sawlog.
  16. I have only just got round to watcing that video, and i have to say it is one of the most amazing things i have seen. I watched it twice then closed my mouth and stopped dribbling!! Absolute respect to that crew, and esp Graeme the climber. Blimey.
  17. Wow, didnt realize there was THAT much lean on it:sneaky2:
  18. Thanks for that David. How quickly is it possible for a f.b of that size to grow- i took a branch off that ash 2 years ago and i dont remember any signs of disease on the tree at the time, and certainly have no memory of f.bs, although thats not to say they werent there.
  19. Thanks for that. I was searching for that pic earlier convinced that was it, just couldnt remember the name. .
  20. Got to fell this dead Fraxinus at the end of the week........i thinkg this is a ganoderma, but i am not sure if so or which, even after trawling through this thread!! It goes 3/4 the way round the tree, which was living a year ago, and is totally dead now.
  21. Theres no two ways about it- they are awesome trucks.
  22. Nah- thats a real truck:001_tt2:
