  1. Totally. Big timber need to be taken to a mill, and less cordwood of the 6-8" diameter range should be chipped in the name of speed on the job. Watched a gang at the bottom of my road last year taking down about 6 huge beech trees. The had a big tracked jensen and all the cordwood up to anout 12" diameter was being chipped. Such a waste IMO.
  2. Haha nice one Frank. 1.52AM????? Dont you sleep man?

    todays job

Never mind that.....C+H in wadebridge really are worth a try, even down your end of the county i should've thought- they do the insurance and they are experienced in tree work.
  4. Looks like your lucky day dave!!!!!
  5. For back support the weaver is very hard to beat. I was up all day in the hurrucane on sodding poplars. At the end of the day we had a straight fell on a dead beech, borrowed a sequioa to run up and put a line in for the winch, and i could really feel the difference- had to be very careful about how i moved or even stood in the tree. It was amazingly light and comfortable though- didnt know it was there really. Love the weaver tho.
  6. Glad to hear it. You should be here by thursday morning if you leave now. Oh, and bring your schleising, i have just been chatting to a guy who is after a pto chipper to run off a ...................................................fergie 35!!
  7. Wow steve, that is the kit i need on thursday. Got an almost identical job for an almost identical price!! Only diffrence is i can get the vermeer within 8yds of the job. Its come off the back of last weeks work for the neighbour.........where we dragged everything up a near 100m slope, produced 18m3 of chip too. Could've SERIOUSLY used that loader then!
  8. Stihl FS480- awesome. Can you get that italian flail head in the uk? Does it take used chainsaw chain? My mate bought one back from Italy and i am after one.
  9. I am still amazed at how much fuel my 088 uses with the 48" bar on it, even after owning it for 11 years. If you dont have one guys, the above point is very valid. The fuel tank holds 1.3 litres:ohmy:
  10. :sneaky2:That wouldnt cover the fee....:001_tt2: only joking!
  11. Great reply Liam. The two shows i have been to were great, such a shame i couldnt get to the one run by an arbtalker....
  12. Go and see a physiotherapist, ignore that silly doctor....
  13. The most profitable businesses in the world are oil, drug running/ growing, gun running and then people running........ I'll stick to tree work myself..
  14. Thanks Andy......it looked it:crying:
  15. Haha...dont tell me this stuff you bar stewards.....walnut butts.......nice one Josh:thumbup1: I was looking forward to it too.
  16. Nice one- i did it the otherway round- had a bus and a PA and set of 1210's and kicked free parties after i left school then got into working properly.........The 90's were ace.
  17. Haha, good one Ian. Those 'builders grip gloves' are ace arent they. You can wash them too, but only a couple of times, and the only downside is when they get old they start to get a tiny bit slippy in the wet.
  18. Just like to say the welcome back showgoers....Arbtalk was really boring while the show was on. I havent seen it from that point of view as i usually go to the shows, but getting back on it this morning, there is actually somthing going on. Another reason not to miss the shows.....dull arbtalk. Possibly the best reason!
  19. Have you got an in-line clear plactic paper filter- you know, the ones that are yellow cardboard inside? If that is full of brown sludge then this is your problem: there is a bug that lives between the surface of water and (especially red) diesel. When this bug dies it leaves a brown sludge which blocks up your filters. On low revs enough fuel gets through to run nicely, on higher revs or under load there is fuel starvation. Get yourself down to a car parts place and get a bottle of additive called (i think) "Fuel Set". It is green in a clear bottle. You should put one dose in every time you fill up, but this time drain your tank, refill it and put a few doses in. The problem, if it is what i have described, comes from condensation in your diesel. It as been a problem in marine diesel for yaers, and is becoming prevelant in red diesel and even white, esp from tescos, where they buy cheap fuel which doesnt have the proper additives in it. Hop this helps. You will obviously need new filters too if this is the problem. It looks like liquid mud in your filters.
  20. That is proper crap mate. Like someone said- go down the market, local pubs etc and put the word out that you are after some iffy saws cheap.......you never know what you will be offered. This sounds very like junky chancers not pro thieves.Good luck
