  1. What is the thing in the 7th pic? My wife (who rather likes horses- we only have about 20 here at the mo- at times there have been nigh on 60 (she has just informed me:sneaky2:)) wondered why a bunch of hairy arsed tree butchers would like pics of a horse lol! Lovely pics, and nice to see something different too.
  2. Cheer mate. I havent really done any for about 3 years- i did it almost solid for about 3 ubtil about 2007. We (2 of us) barely managed to build 2 square metres a day, we are fairly particular...The joints are no thicker than a roof slate, and there are quite alot of slates that were split thiner to make packers!!!
  3. Delaboles finest. Hes a banker, building it on his bonus....what can i say....
  4. £175 + VAT plus the stone, which is about 180 vat a metre. Our bill came to around 28k plus vat.....out of 1.9 million build cost.... Edit- we started off at 200/ metre, but the building company we were subbying to (who are good friends) couldnt make anything, so we knocked it down for them.....they quoted 80 a metre lol.
  5. I have a couple of pics of what i have been doing for thelast few months- only a day or two or three a week in between tree stuff. We have finished, but are going back on monday to get pics and clean the dust off and measure, and i will ge more an better pics in a new thread. We have also done the outside of the curve. More to follow, but i thought they would be right at home in a crap walling thread lol.
  6. Read this a while back- Excellent tale, well recommended. Be warned- you will DESPERATELY want to go and climb them after you have read it lol.
  7. They always do ady- you need to cross reference several books. This one was fairly easy though:sneaky2:
  8. This is exactly the reason that we are getting fly tipping. They charge so much at the tip to get rid of it that the unscrupulous are wont to fly tip. The council would save megabucks if they footed the bill for the flytippers to pay to tip rather than pay for the aftermath of flytipping. madness.
  9. I think i remember Juglans being mentioned somewhere in our phonecall the other day Ady....

    Stihl hiflex

I do agree to a certain extent, but if you google Stihl Hiflex it takes the hours out of it. It would also be pratty out of order for anyone to go recommending one of the sites sponsors over another, so is, in my opinion, bang out of order for you to expect us to A: do your donkey work (these things change regularly and none of us could be expected to know the answer without looking it up anyway) and B:promote one supplier over another. So it doesnt hurt, but then dont be offended if you get the sort of answers you have.
  11. Now then peter peter pie eater...it doesnt actually say their opening times, but it does give a phone number, which would have been quicker to use than typing this thread......
  12. Cup of tea or not, thy're still damn fine carvings!!
  13. Staggeringly good Tommy. I sat gawping at that for a while. Superb.:thumbup1:
  14. man goes to the doctors...'I cant say my F's and TH's ' he says.. 'Well you cant say fairer than that' says the doctor
  15. Sweeeeet mate. We must catch up soon. My workload is finally getting down to more manageable levels.....
  16. It was a good day. The guy who owns the 130 started out as an engineer (38 years ago) before quickly moing into arbwork, and now instucts, lolers etc etc aswell as contracting. The kincab i smade from the truck cab, with the back of a station wagon roof welded(he can weld ali) to it forming a long roof, and cut down to 2 thirds doors. When in the cab you have a large shelf behind you, and from outside it is possible to access a locker that is essentially under the shelf. Really really useful truck. Thers a lot of history too. It started life as a left hooker- he changed it to a R.H.Drive after the new chassis went in....caused when his daughter (the whole family are tree surgeons) puled out in a 30 zone towing the large chipper, and was broadsided by some london solicitor in a 7 series beemer doing way over the speed limit, and was pushed 9 metres sideways!!!!!!!
  17. Hey John- i just unearthed this thread- dont know how i missed it first time round. May have been having PC probs!!
  18. Attach some alkathene pipe to the top of the wall and let your rope run over that.
  19. It has a standard ball hitch.
  20. Lots of David Gray recently....I mean WTF?????? lol
  21. Cool mate. What a fun day. Great to do something different, especially for the benefit of all.
  22. Phew close one Dean. Glad it turned out ok mate!!
  23. Thats lovely Dean, and you should be justifiably proud. You KNOW my comment was VERY tongue in cheek I hope. Well i had a weird encounter today....I was driving down the lower track mentioned earlier, there were two new piles of rubbish, one over 100 yds up the lane in our field gateway. Both were a mixture of TV's and furniture etc. I thought about this thread, got to the bottom pof the lane to find a cop car and 2 cops (one a VERY attractive 30 ish woman) and asked them about it. We chatted for awhile, and then he asked me for a business card as he ahd seen the landy signwriting and needed some treework doing!! Tops.
