  1. Have you tried nick coutrier over in ipplepen ?
  2. where did you manage to get a video of Timber cutter in "his early days" from ?? hahaha lmao
  3. i look forward to it Garth !! which trailer did you go for then ?
  4. My gas bill for the first six months - £422.84 My Gas bill up untill now (% and a half months) £00.00 I was so fed up with the bills and problems with the boiler that i had the boiler removed and a woodwarm stove fitted into the front room which powers 5 radiators and does the hot water , the house has a totally different feel to it and the warmth is a real warmth unlike the central heating. I had looked at keeping the gas boiler but was advised of the complexity and cost in setting up a wood burner that integrates with the gas system so i never bothered as it woud take me in excess of 6 years to recoup the money spent
  5. as hard as it sounds you really need to start off simple - axe and chainsaw and work out what is going to work for you ! its easy for any of us to tell you how we have done it BUT we are not you , start off small and work at it !! make it work for you !
  6. Wilsons do have some tidy tractors in at the moment and most dont have a crane fitted , yes a crane would be ideal to feed your chipper but if your not in the makret at present then it would be a great way to go with the view of possibly getting a jake mounted at a later date
  7. didnt that chipper get used for demmo ? if that is where i think it is and they also have a branch just outside plymouth?? i thought it was being sold as ex demmo .
  8. its a bit like torquing down a head- the settings need to be the same throughout , you may be fortunate but usually the u bolts get disturbed and dont quite sit beck the same , give it a go but like you have said - keep an eye on them !!
  9. one of the things that gets over looked when changing the u bolts is that if you change them on one side then u need to change the other as well !! if not you can be sure that at some point in the near future you will have to change them any way !!! and at that point you again would not change both sides and the other side would eventually fail . My advice would be to change the u bolts on both sides !!
  10. The only problem we have found with running bigger chippers on our u1600 is that once the mog is loaded with chip you go over your rear axle weight , we found that in the end we were putting the chipper on the front to drive back with !! having said that if we were to try and do that with our Jensen A240 we would be well over on the front axle !! So in short i would make sure that the chipper is not going to cause you too many problems in terms of axle damage .
  11. hahaha typing never has been my strong point !!!!
  12. good chipper !!! have used a 270 and found it to be a great piece of kit , what size mog do you have ?
  13. Come on Garth , as much as it may not be related to loading a chipper lets see some more pics of your Valtra pretty please
  14. its usually worked out but taking the list price and taking off 7.5% for each year its in stock . that being said im fairly sure unless it is showing signs of paint deterioration etc the dealer will be reluctant to knock so much of but at least there is a starting point for you
  15. No problems - although i have not posted on this thread yet i think this may help ! hahaha Bonjour monsieur mon groupe rupture de la chaîne est brisée pouvez-vous résoudre ce s'il vous plaît"
  16. Great stuff , thanks Andrew , keep me posted if u can please
  17. Hmmm looking into this again as we have been getting a few inquiries for thinning jobs and clear fell jobs , so guys does anyone have any reccomendations on Machines ? Cheers Dave
  18. our Moheda crane is mounted on a Jake plate and we are really happy with it , its not as top heavy as a roof mount and the loss of rear view is more than made up for by the stability .
  19. i will get tommer to post some pictures tomorrow , although our chipper is not anywhere near the size of yours i would still highly recommend a valmet and crane , we are looking to fit a camera into the top of the chipper in-feed hopper that will allow us to see exactly whats going on in the hopper while we are loading it
  20. I too have three Spaniels , Bramble and bracken are brothers but one litter apart , bramble is the eldest at 4 years old and bracken is 3 , then last year we rescued another springer called gypsy we think she is about 4 as well , she was gun shy and treated pretty poorly , she has settled into home life really well . I do not think i could have any other bread of dog any more !! all three of them are full of energy and go round the house like mad things ! take them out for a walk and there even more fun !!! simply adorable
  21. we regularly end up in the situation of taking down stone dead trees with no access for a mewp , if you ensure that your round the main stem then you cant really go far wrong ! it is more a case of experience rather than right and wrong , if your not sure about something then question why your not sure and what could be done to overcome the problem ! if you still can not see a way round it then don't do it !! In this case the option of using a dead branch as a main anchor point could be overcome by going round the main stem and ensuring where possible you have either strop round the stem or a second line Just in case . However if your asking if you can anchor on dead branches then i fear my friend you need to gain more experience within your tree knowledge and characteristics of timber coupled with becoming more competent as a climber before taking on jobs where you may need to consider anchoring on dead or suspect limbs/branches. other than that you may well be experienced and fancy a bit of Sunday afternoon banter lol
  22. I would say allot would depend on the species of the tree , and the intended use of said anchor point . My only question would be that surely if there is a piece of deadwood that may be usable an an anchor point would it not be wise to go round the main stem rather than just being reliant upon the piece of deadwood ?
  23. Hi Josy , we run a jensen a240 (10x12 inch) machine and although its a world apart from your new chipper i can say that we find feeding the chipper with the crane on our valtra to be really simple and effective , although it is hard to see into the hopper from the cab it is still very productive , the plus side to this system is that if your site is limited on space then this is a compact set up that can deliver a good output , we have tried using diggers with grabs but it always seems to be a load of hastle having to get the tractor and chipper into one position , then get the digger into position but oh then that wont work as thee is nowhere to put the trailer we are chipping into . Have you thought about speaking to A.C Price to see if they can fit a crane onto your chipper ? i thought that it was an additional option that you can get when ordering ?
  24. that being said , i often wonder just how many potential clients have a look on here before enlisting a tree surgery firm !!
  25. i loe the job of going out and cutting my own tree , this year we have two !! a 25 ft tree to annoy the neighbours with and a 6 foot tree for the dining room the only downside is that they are both sitka's seeings as we are on a thinning job i felt that it was only right to put the tops to good use !! if i could gie any useless advice it would be never to use Larch !!! they take way too much to deccorate seeings as they are a little bare and never consider a fake tree if you intend to chip it !!!lmfao other that that have a merry christmas!!!
