  1. A lack of locking mechanism in the open position? Wildly guessing here as no-one else has
  2. You sure? There is a dearth of panels on the newbuilds I see popping up
  3. As we're talking energy etc... anyone know why the retail price of domestic heating oil has shot up over the last week? Will it fall back again?
  4. Good luck with it. We're fixed price nighttime leccy until June '23 (21p/kw/hr). A Sussex barn with 9m long pitched roof will be going up soon so we'll be looking to install panels too. The rainwater will be going into the first of two old 1200l non-bunded oil tanks!
  5. Many owners of ev's have fixed price tariffs so October won't be their Doomsday; it'll be delayed that's all. And I mean us!
  6. That would not be a good thing; as if reserves aren't low enough already...
  7. If it does it's your fault!
  8. 👍...in a raised planting area
  9. Could 'near Chepstow' include Shaftesbury? I'm thinking Mark gobbypunk; I know he needs work
  10. Swap out the Orange for HE then. B52; top idea Steve. It's the way forward 😂
  11. Good stuff. This summer has brought home the need for rainwater harvesting, especially here in the south. I've just been given a tank that size, I'll hopefully grab another one next year from the same source and I may well buy a used one too; they're not exy second hand. We don't have many veggies to water but we've only lived here 18 months so have loads of newly planted stuff in both the ground and pots; Her Maj has a penchant for Agapanthus which are hungry and thirsty.

    Jokes???

  13. You got me 🏳️
  14. I suppose I should at least make some attempt at being constructive then... 'This would be on a large scale' Small digger with operator, remove all root infested material after cutting to ground level, import topsoil. Will cost a moderate amount of money but if that's a big problem they shouldn't have let the stuff get out of hand! (Assuming the occupiers haven't just moved in)
  15. So helpful 😄
  16. Don't get too excited; it's stopped already but was indeed mighty welcome for the hour it lasted. Good rain too, not mere falling mist
  17. Murmurating I meant - didn't intend to be childish with the correct word twice!
  18. Isn't murmurising when the birds flock and then do their kind of synchronised patterns in the sky? These just coalesced and flew away
  19. I tried but there was this bloody great spotlight in the sky called a full moon
  20. Sadly they didn't do any marmalising but about half of them formed a cloud that circled a couple of times before heading off for the night. The sound of the wings was quite eerie - not a sound from their mouths
  21. Good to see so many starlings: this was at the top of Scotland a few days ago VID-20220808-WA0001.mp4
  22. A thing of beauty; I like

  25. @Chrissio Have you considered the use of ground screws on which to build your extension? We have a Planning App in for a Sussex barn (a bit different!) that will slightly overlap the RPA of a semi-mature oak. The arb consultant doing the BS5837 survey thought it was a great idea and one that would minimise grief from Planning re the tree which isn't currently Preserved
