1. A little fierce but it's always been the case in this country that if you use a car to maim/kill someone rather than a more traditional weapon you get punished lightly in comparison. Causing death by Dangerous Driving attracts a shorter term inside than causing death by waving a gun about while squeezing the trigger.
2. It has been held to be Careless Driving to give a misleading signal. But proving it is another matter of course.
3. How true. For example is the 'i' on the end of 'fungi' long or short?
4. If it's the same plant as was pointed out when I spent my honeymoon in Cairns the rash comes back every time you get the skin wet for up to 6 months after the sting so our guide said.
5. 'trailers going to cost me 1k+ to sit it in.' Also on ebay... motorcycle trailer? That's what I put my Jo Beau on. I've put castors on the back of the trailer so I can wheel it to safety through the garden gate.
6. Have BFG ATs on mine and never had a problem. But as said the tyres and the driver make the difference; you'll get further in a Mondeo on Muds than in a Landy on slicks!
7. Not the same but at a little over half the price you wouldn't expect it. But the Wolf one is good; I don't go anywhere without mine. They're good value.

That sounds fair Steve; thanks. I'll keep with that awful petrol stuff then but, as you say, emphasise the need to empty before storage (oil too to prevent crusty stuff!).

That McCulloch; it'll be OK on Aspen won't it. I'm nagging the buyer to use it as the saw won't be so much as looked at for months at a time.

10. Good for turning (as above) and burning (dense wood)!
11. I've now seen enough problems with those caps on different machines to say that they really need to go! All I want is a simple screw on cap with a screwdriver slot for that tweak.
12. My 241's good too except for occasionally cutting out when full throttle is released. Restarts immediately though.

That makes better sense; I was aware of the belief in it being bad luck to fell a holly. Cheers.

How experiences differ. I split some robinia last May and have never got round to getting the heap off the ground. Everything on the outside is fit to burn and the rest is at least halfway dried. Re green holly; someone suggested to me only today that a lump of green holly in the round was the original Yule log, left to burn for ages despite its greenness. Anyone know anything about this?
15. On this occasion it seems that the NT even went against findings of their own sponsored report!
16. It was featured on one of those weird weather progs last week. Just as recent flooding here has been exacerbated by a wind-pushed storm surge so the ice was literally blown off the lake and offshore.

I think you're spot on there. I managed to keep shtum about a whole stack in a relative's very large garden that had come from that garden. It got no sun at all but the wind whistled straight through it off a large flat field. I couldn't believe how dry it got in just the 9 months or so I got away without moving it.
18. This Tulip was the best darned tree in my own garden. Not now...

That's why it's still 30% Split it and it'll dry fine.
20. I'll bring a piece with me Steve! Jon
21. Beau, Steve 7th Devil is about to get a whole tree of it for turning/carving or something. Hopefully he'll be able to point you in a direction other than firewood if that's any good to you. Or is it a case of firewood or nowt? BTW Liriodendron tulipifera is of the Magnolias. Jon
22. Walnut surely.
23. Really? I was in farming years ago and regularly watched cattle stretching barb to hell by using it as a scratching implement; the numerous tufts of hair bore testament. As said though nothing will stop a determined cow unless it's bigger and stronger than the cow; the trick is to prevent animals becoming determined by not showing them yummy tucker just over the fence! The above applies to electric fences too; every herd has a beast or two that isn't bothered by it and is happy to walk straight through it if there is temptation beyond.
24. Given the weight and hassle involved with moving the prunings any distance why not just do what the locals do and sell it locally for firewood? They barely bother cutting it up; it gets delivered in 2-3' lengths and the customers are left to get it into their 16" burner themselves! At least you could steal a march there and sell it in sensibly sized pieces.
25. Undoubtedly; hit and miss kills two birds with one stone then. For similar reasons Paraweb used to be the in thing; is that still popular I wonder?
