  1. Bargain. You did you book that with?
  2. Funky. You've drawn a line in the sand now.
  3. Going 22nd Jan. I really would be divorced if I went twice in a month!
  4. Been looking for my photos of the waves that day. I've got one of the box but can't find it just yet. This was a few shots of Margaret River main break I took after I got out. Main break is just a few hundred meters from the box so both were breaking at around the same size. Was 10 years ago now and at the end of a year of epic surf in OZ
  5. Can't lay a claim to the box. Had 2 waves and was terrrified the whole session. Didn't go back again either but I did get 2 screamers. My claim to surf fame would have to be, being one of the 1st guys to surf silverbacks in Panama. My mate owns part of the Island there now. Last went there 2005. Sick wave. Not my shot, just one from the web
  6. Never surfed Ireland. Had waves in France, spain, portugal, morocco, senegal, guinea bissau, Indo, Oz,Cali, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua. Had the most fun at decent size Salsa Brava, Redsands in Oz or pavones. Scariest was The Box. must have been triple overhead but I only had 2 waves in 2 hours. I think that is the most frightened I've ever been.
  7. Isn't that the great thing about surfing? You can't catch a bus to manchester and play football in the park with Beckham. When I went to Oz with my mate we ended up surfing and hanging out with guys who we'd been seeing in surf mags for years. So where ave you guys had the best waves?
  8. Sounds like you've been involved in the surf industry then? Its crazy what guys do paddle into these days. I prefer watching tow surfing though. Riding small boards into waves earlier and faster is more exciting to watch.
  9. Not saying that I got the skills to surf waves like that, far from it. I would have liked to have grown up on the north shore, tasmainia or wa though. When you travel to great waves around the world its always the local guys who charge the spots harder and bigger than anyone else. The guys like Fergal and his mates in Ireland are crazy though, surfing those cold water super shallow reefs.
  10. I recon thats a load of rubbish. Its economies of scale, the more guys you employ the more profit you make on each man. An employer with 2 employees will be making less per person than a 15 man out fit.
  11. Pipe looks so average when its not firing. Guys that good always make ok waves look so much better. Saw this this week, worth a watch. Would have loved the opportunity to surf stuff like this in a different life. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFlg92eOOqI]YouTube - Billabong XXL 2011 Midseason Highlight Clip[/ame]
  12. Good work mate. You'll want to use them all the time now I bet.
  13. If the guys can't get to a site there always stuff to do in the yard so they get paid. If the weather is really wet cold or just horrible then they get the choice to work or not. If they don't want to get cold or wet and would rather stay home then they can take it out of their holiday
  14. Crazy up north. Didn't even have to defrost the car windows down here this morning
  15. Doubt it. Many established firms charge way less than that. Not sure how much property is where you are. My wifes friend just bought a similar size house to ours but in Coventry. We are in Devon and our has was double the cost. What gets you work down here is reputation and contacts. With those things it will be hard work.
  16. Aint that the truth. I'm 31 with 11 years climbing under my belt. I'm not on the tools every day and tend to only climb the bigger trees. Certainly young enough to climb all the time, but I know that I would get too bored spending all week climbing less challenging trees.
  17. 150k on the house. noting on work stuff. I'm owed about 15k though
  18. is it an old pollard? If so maybe sound at the Base. Maybe fell stump and lift whole ting out with something and leave it in a corner of your yard. Hauling it might be cheaper than man hours and chains trying to deal with it.
  19. Seeing as its movie night. 2 Maccys with loads od cables meant some lumps could be dropped other we rigged up down and sideways. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pjq3X51NRNw]YouTube - bigmaccys[/ame]
  20. Cool, vid, good editing. I'm having fun editing vids too but my wife thinks I'm a right sad case. Gonna try to beet that with one later though
  21. Not Bear Grylls but I have - Spent a year living in a rainforest 20miles away from the nearest paved road. Spent a week alone in the jungle radio tracking cats sleeping in a hammock. Been in 2 hurricanes and a major earthquake. Hitch hiked accross Panama at 19 as I spent all my money partying and woke up broke on an Island. Had Dengue Fever in Colombia. Been caught up in civil unrest in Indonesia and had to fight to get on an evacuation flight. Driven from Sydney to Perth in a banger sleeping rough the whole way. Drove 16 hours through a rebel controlled area in West Africa in a car with no brakes, clutch or lights. Had a night out in Plymouth
  22. We are looking at a similar thing here. We are fitting the stove in the lounge but want to pust the heat into a 400sqft conservatory. I think we're going to put a 8kw stove in with a stove top fan, then use one of those silient dyson fans to push the air where its needed.
