  1. dont have any experience personally, but went to school with lads that were fostered. These poor wee guys had been through hell, and this couple gave them a chance. They were wild when they came in first year, but they left school with qualifications and friends. Anything you can do to help others would be wothwhile. You have a lot of life experience by the sounds of it, and know good from bad. best of luck mate.
  2. i bet you have seen some changes mate, when you started could you just have a big bonfire, thats what my old man used to do.
  3. there is nothing like a nice car in the driveway to get you out your bed in the morning, I went through a stage where i changed my vehicle 7 times in 18 months.lost a fortune but i would get up at night and look between the curtains to see the new motor there. it would give me butterflies and i would get really excited and couldnt wait to go to work.
  4. I know a guy who done over 20k in a day, he had a large area to clear, when they got to the sight it had been torched and there was nothing left but a few sticks. He stuck the bill in, and after a bit of to and fro he got paid. jammy bastxxx my best was 3750 but you dont get many of them.
  5. whats your best day mate? in pounds?this could make interesting reading.
  6. you seem pretty wise to me mate, with your qaulifications couldnt you do tree surveys and consultancy and go to work in that new cateram. plenty of room for a laptop and some gps:001_smile:
  7. i was in a westfield years ago john, looked pretty similar to the cateram, unbelievable roadholding. They take a bit of driving me thinks, you look like a tall guy, will it be a tight fit?or can they make them to fit. or are you a midget with a deceptive avatar:001_smile:
  8. I started my own business 10 years ago today with a black xr2, a 26, and a climbing bag. Those were the days. i made 160 quid my on first day The job i chucked was paying me 4.30 an hour as a climber. we could all do with another storm like that one.How long have you guys been in the business:001_smile:
  9. give your boy a pat on the back(but i am sure you have already)
  10. i go through a lot of chain brakes, if you use them a lot they will go, but they are only a couple of quid, cheaper than a leg. But if you dont clean them out crap gets stuck behind the band and wont help matters. My mate gives me a hard time because i am so sore on them, thats why i dont like top handles, if you get kick back while working one handed you cant engage it. but some will say if you use any saw one handed this is the same
  11. no ones fault but my own, its the only time i have ever done it. If i had my 026 with me i would of taken out the silky for flushing the silly wee nug. the problem that day was i was fatigued and stressed, i didnt take the time to get into position, if you have done heavy pollarded street limes you will know what they are like. If it wasnt the 020 it would of been something else that day. a lesson learnt.
  12. i thought i was the only person that called them suckers, i worked with a guy who called them epicormicals to all the customers. Is that a real term, we used to piss ourselves
  13. I was out there 9 years ago on holiday, i got offered a job on my first day.27.50 dollars an hour that was based on being selfemployed 3 days a week. I didnt know if that was any good, until my cousin who was the sub editor of the Aukland Herald told me she got 15 dollars an hour.and she had a good lifestyle. The trees are amazing, and huge, check out the big Fig trees(mountain bay i think) Really cool country, The gums are monsters. i saw some that must have been 250 feet plus.
  14. i bet that was interesting with the kids asking questions, have a quiet one mate?
  15. bbc2 just now, its monkey time:001_smile:
  16. i was out in the garden with the dogs there giving them a little hug, someone has sent up one of those thai lanterns. it is a frosty night. it was amazing. if you have never done this you should. they are so gracefull and you can see them for miles
  17. happy new year buddy, i wonder what this one will bring
  18. they dont help the back or the tennis elbow mate. did you get my pm?
  19. the livestock looks like they have been crown lifting so that could explain the lack of epicormic. I think there might be a couple of willows their though.
  20. at first i thought it was beech, but i think you are right about lime when you see it sconed up. I would of thought the other limes would of had epicormic growth though.
