  1. Best thing I ever did going vat registered. Yep you loose people wanting cheap work but you get 20% back on all your diesel etc etc etc
  2. with caveats no? 1st) Britool 2nd) Teng Joint 3rd) King Dick, Facom, etc as others have mentioned. Sykes P used to be ok.
  3. what world do some people live in?! Clueless keyboard warriors.
  4. Unless things have changed the 500 was double the price of a 400 for a few extra hp and self propelled which back then was nearly 5 grand! Forget the extra inch capacity. Nonetheless, the drive system was essential for mobility; pushing the 400 around on anything other than a billiard table is hard work. No issues with the robustness of the machine tho and with a good anvil and blades was a very productive machine.
  5. Simple O&F change has removed the oil pressure problem - seems too simple to be true but is running like a peach. Good job because I'm not spending any more money on it. Forwarder #2 better to put money into.
  6. I run a 20" all day as it counters backache being 6'4" tall; can only dream of buzzing about with a 13" on a small saw. After an hour or so on the dolly with a 16 I have to pick up the 460. Decided long ago to just use a 460 all day; once I'd got used to it, things in theory should be more productive. So my answer to the tit le would be 461.
  7. Depends on your physique, particularly height.
  8. That would do my head in lol; max of 24 quotes a year is enough for me

  12. you mean we can choose?!
  13. typically £1-200. Only more if spotless / as new
  14. Yeah wilsons
  15. TBH I trust the pressure switch, esp. since it goes off after a 5 minute rest / cooldown. Might be blocked filter / pump strainer due to using newer detergent oil which has loosened crap. I've just been reading the horror stories about main bearings and / oil pump. What could be a moderately easy job is a complete heahache because the oil pan is integral with the frame of the machine... Not what I need right now, just spent thousands on the hydraulics, time to leave it in the yard? Did you have those Ponsse details? Thx
  16. Hmmm, next Bruunett problem? Either doesn't like the heat or is the engine oil pump on the way out? Always shows flickering low oil pressure at tickover when warmed up but now exhibiting the same when even revving as high as 1500 rpm + ; granted it's working up and down a decent slope. Switch it off for 5 mins and the light goes out at startup but prob returns soon enough. Topped up the oil - seemed to help - for 10 minutes! Or could be inj pump shaft seal seal as level might be going up i.e. diesel in crankcase...
  17. softwood mate for mills / biomass. Small parcels of hardwood rarely.
  18. Log & Chip, that's all everyone's cutting; the likes of euro aint paying enough rate for us to cut it so log and chip which is easier to cut has knackered the fencing yo
