  1. Get the money out of them mate. I would chase it up even if it cost me more than the debt. Its the principal. Send it to the debt collector they'll pay.
  2. The one with the yellow flowers is Acacia Julibrisca (I thinK) or a wattle. I think over there it might be called a Tasmanian blackwood, but i could be getting confused with another tree. Couldnt tell you all the different species of eucalyptus. The big one in the middle looks like a bunya bunya pine to me, did it have massive cones (like rugby ball size)? Or could be a queensland kauri, but the bark doesnt look right.
  3. Strange indeed mate. What was all the fuss about in the first place?
  4. i had some that came with a splice in one end. I'm not sure if it was because it was fresh off the reel or someone at the boat shop put one in. But i used it. Anyway a few weeks later after someone told me to have a look at it, I fiddled around with it a bit and the whole thing came undone. The core was still spliced, but it all came out of the tuck. Dodgy. I wont be climbing on anything that isnt spliced by someone I trust again. They are actually teaching it at certain polytechs over here which I'm not sure is such a great idea. I think it is pretty hard to perfect and there is not much room for error if you are climbing on the splices.
  5. Not sure what your on about Bristow, probably overcomplicating things again. Levin sells them for $70. Easy peezy.

    No slack

What are they designed for originally? If you cant use them like that doesnt it make them pretty much useless?
  7. When putting wraps on a porta-wrap swap the direction of the wraps on every piece you lower.Stops your rope getting twisted.

  9. I have started to think along those lines aswell. Its only $150 for the year. Just hate being pushed into these things. Thanks for the advice
  10. So just finished a pretty big job at a school. Was a tricky job and had to price very shrewdly (if i may say so myself) to get it. The job went well and the invoice is in the post and blah blah blah. Got a call from the secretary asking if i wanted to advertise on the school newsletter. I dont really work in the area and to be honest i dont think i will gain much work. The problem is shes rung me about 3 times in the last 3 days asking why I wont advertise and is really putting the pressure on. Its a pretty small advertising fee compared to my invoice, but i really dont want it. Do i just get it and treat it as a donation or stand my ground? I know the school has had a few different contractors in to do the trees over the years and they like to let you know they are getting other quotes, but there is definateley a bit more work to be done there at some stage. Or am i just being a tightass?

  13. You have to laugh it off mate. The guys a dick. Get as much out of him as you can and walk away happy that you dont have to spend a moment more of your life inside the mind of a analy retentive muppet. Keep smiling mate this guy is a minority. Dont let him ruin your trust in other people.

  23. looks like its near a house, did it land on anything?
  24. first sharpen is definateley sharper, but the factory edge seems to last a bit longer. I try and keep the factory edge as long as possible. It still cuts sweet. I think guys sometimes push on the saw a bit and convince themselves its cutting slow.
