  1. You'll have to get the facts from Adam when he gets out of hospital. But the story goes he was footlocking up an ash tree and the branch snapped when he was about 7 metres up. The branch was a good 6 inches wide where it snapped, but his rope was about a metre out from the crotch round a smaller branch. Was a bit unlucky i think. We climb the tree all the time and i would be suprised if no-one had tied in at that point before. But like i say you'll have to wait till the big man gets out of hospital for all the gory details.
  2. Hey Drew how are ya? Adam's doing well mate, but is still in Hospital waiting for an operation (2 weeks now Unbelievable). So not really anymore news. He's feeling alright is pretty happy, but bored out of his skull. They are saying he's going to be in a wheelchair for 3 months, and not walking for 5, but i think they like to prepare you for worst case scenario. I reckon he'll be up and about in 3 months. Have been telling him it could happen to anyone and it was bloody unlucky, but he is still a bit sad about the whole thing. Anyway he'll be better soon and i'm sure he'll be on here with a vengence once he gets bored of surfing for porn. Thanks again for all the replies to the thread I'm sure Adam appreciates the support.
  3. applied for a jobs as a binman and at a tree company. Tree company called back first, 5 years later here i am.
  4. Most 6" chippers are marketed as such because they have a 6" in-feed. Try putting a 6" branch with brush on it through and it wont fit. All i'm saying is the Bandit will take a 6" branch with brush way more comfortably than other chippers. you might be able to get 6" of wood through the in-feed but you cant tell me it wont get stuck on every little stub or branch on the way through. Therefore its really only a 4" chipper as you need to leave a couple of inches gap for the brush.
  5. just been to see Adam and he's much better. Not much pain just a couple of gammy ankles. Gonna be in a wheelchair for a bit. Not sure if you can climb in one, but you never know, could open up a whole new dimension to the sport/job. .
  6. Thanks for replying to the thread everyone. Spoke to Adam today and he seems to be in better spirits, not so much pain and plenty of morphine, he might actually be enjoying himself. His op is in a couplee days then i'm sure he will thank you all himself. Cheers.
  7. Just bought a brand new one 6 months ago and it is brilliant. It is small enough to get down those pokey driveways, but big enough to handle the bigger jobs. I have used vermeer 6 inchs and the bandit is way better. The double rollers will crush branches that some chippers cant handle and it will take a true 6" branch rather than 4" like the rest of them. My one has the vangaurd 35hp motor and the dual rollers which may cost you more, but it usually just depends what the dealer has in stock. I used to hire a 9 inch greenmech and i reckon my bandit is'nt far behind. Feeds in a bit slower takes almost as big a branch, cost $20,000 less.
  8. was an Ash mate. Quite brittle trees, but was a decent branch apparently. like you say at least it was'nt any worse.
  9. apparentley it was about 6 or 7 metres. Luckily just broken ankles. Again thanks to all who have replied to the thread it would be great to keep it going until he gets to see it.
  10. Hes in NZ still. Doing really well, but he's gutted. He'll be out of hospital in a week or so, would be good to keep the thread going until he's out so he see's it and reads the posts. Thanks to all those who have posted so far.
  11. Hi all i thought i would start a thread for atree who has managed to break both his ankles when a branch he was footlocking snapped. Many people will know him from arbtalk and will know he is a great guy and many others will i'm sure just feel sorry for him. So i thought i would start a thread where anyone who wants to give him any messages of support, or just take the piss a bit could do so. Nice one guys.
