  1. Was walking up to a conifer hedge i was about to cut out, along some rough ivy covered ground. Then stepped on a rusty manhole cover which had completly disintagrated but was covered by ivy so you couldnt see it. Down i went, was about 8ft deep i was lucky not to injure my self or have a running saw in my hand.
  2. We did have a chipper before, a pto greenmech one but because it was tractor mounted we couldnt take it far from college, least now we can tow this one wherever we like. I feel privaliged to use the kit we have, there putting us through nptc mewp ticket soon, in training for it at the moment. Also got my chipper ticket before christmas. Which college you go to mate?
  3. what the!!! Thats some cracking stuff, that operater must have some bottle
  4. Things like this just make me mad. I havnt heard of any thefts around my area recently although today i was informed that theres a silver transit van with irish number plates hanging around at 1/2 oclock in the morning. Not hard to figure out what there up to, need to keep my wits about me the next week or so.
  5. Hope hes alryt, and i wish him a speedy recovery.
  6. Crikey I remember we had one numpty when i first started college who thought a visor wouldnt be cut by a saw, praps i should send this to him as a reminder. Glad the chaps ok
  7. The chap looks like hes a jack of all trades. Well you say it could pull a monster chipper but when i saw it, it was pulling a tiddly greenmech chipper, looked abit out of proportion lol
  8. Sure is cannington college my lecturer is mike cullen, nice bloke. I dont know who had the final say on the purchase but he seems happy enough with having a new chipper and by going by the feedback you guys have given me it seems like they have made a good choice. Apparently its all they could afford after buying a M.E.W.P aswell only a few weeks ago. Tom
  9. http://stevesindustries.co.uk/NewsDisplay.aspx?id=112 Passed this guy on the motorway a few weeks ago, it deffiently caught my eye. Dont think its my kind of thing though really. Tom
  10. I think my lecturer is a top bloke, just everyone likes to have abit of freindly banter on my course so thought i could get some feed back of here to pass onto him, and if its negative feed back then just have a laugh about it with him. My question wasnt meant to taken in that way, apoligies. Tom
  11. If its not the springs then it deffiently sounds like the rollers need a "edge" putting on them, like has already been mentioned. Saying that with a good set of springs it should still pull something like that through, hmmm...
  12. For me theres nothing better than working on a warm summers day, working on a nice tree. Got a couple take downs to do 2moz, and the forcast is looking good (oops i've said it now) lol so hopefully a good day ahead
  13. The college i study at have just purchased a Timberwolf TW125PH, just wondering if there any good? any pros & cons? Just gives me abit of ammo to chuck at my lecturer about his purchase Thanks in advance, Tom
  14. It all makes sense now, its true when they say a picture (video) paints a thousand words, looks like it could be a good investmant when the time comes
  15. Cant help you there sorry mate. Dont mean to derail the thread to much but if anybody needs somewhere to tip chip, dump cordwood, or store equipment i have some secure land in somerset, just off junction 26 of the m5 if anybody needs it, just ask
  16. I agree, sounds like an inside job. Cant trust nobody these days.
  17. 4th pic looks great, all holding the same stance with matching helmets. Would make a great company photo that. May have to try it myself
  18. I noticed today the councils and the college groundsman all out on the mowers around here, it does seem earlier, but it did smell nice
  19. Think ive read this before on here somewhere, also a mate i have in motocross told me that often motocross riders will say run it in as if you stole it, basically just straight in at the deep end. But they do change pistons every few hours, so might not apply so much to saws. Last 2 saws i bought i threw straight in at the deep in, and touch wood there fine
  20. I've heard stories of an australian climber who made his own out of old firefighting water hose
  21. I did my cs30, 31, 38 and 39 recently at the age of 16
  22. At a quick guess, going with my first thought. Sooty bark - Cryptostroma corticale
  23. You cant do that im the real Tom Sellick, that is actually my name all be it not spelt exactly the same
  24. I think its been replaced with a programme about wendy richards, who passed away today. Thats what my tv guide is telling me anyway, i was quite looking forward to seeing how "other people work"
