  1. Can't believe the climber wasn't using a safety line, and his spikes could have damaged that butt. Seriously, very cool job fellas. Credit must go to the thinking involved in this project, I expect many would simply have condemned the whole sculpture. Well done.
  2. Fast work fellas. Is that a power cable visible in pic 2?
  3. 5 grand to set up wouldn't get you very far. Anyone noticed how quite a few of these new companies disappear after a few months anyway?
  4. Hell on Earth for me, that. Did you get many old pegs in the goolies?
  5. I reckon it's only one stray turd. The hound of the Baskervilles must live there! I would be very tempted to hang a big banner on the fence saying 'Caution, massive pile of dog s***, with an arrow pointing to it. Mind you, dirty b******s like that probably wouldn't care.
  6. Willow job from a couple of weeks back, nothing too demanding, few small tricky bits over a line and a fair amount of volume. Of the 4 'tree surgeons' who looked at the job, 3 said they couldn't do it! Most are just gardeners with ladders. A bit annoying because they are picking up the nice simple jobs and doing them for f-all! Qualified and insured my a***!
  7. That I can use to flick round the back of the computer and pull it nearer to me. Not exactly running out of ink for the work diary at the mo.
  8. Can anyone tell me if the 3-way snap hook that Steve mentioned on here last year is available yet? Been waiting for it to come out for when I get my new wire core flipline.
  9. £50 for a dumper was a good deal Brian! Lock it in a workshop with The A-Team and see what they come blasting out the doors with!
  10. Ran a 18/100G for a few years. Good little chipper with sharp blades, BUT- It can't fit in gardens like the J-B or Stevies wee Greenmech, and from the vids the performance looks the same but you've still got the drag! I think you'd be better off trying to find a decent second hand TW125 or similar. I can't believe the difference in chipping time and productivity since upgrading. It will handle everything as well, whilst the gravity fed machines always struggled on ivy, fruit tree brash and thorny stuff. Depends on what the majority of work is really mate. If you can always chip in a back garden the narrow access gravity fed machines are well worth the extra snedding time. Try before you buy as well!
  11. Buy the 36" bar and give it a go John. Should be OK if razor sharp. Have you seen the price of a new 66 now! My 66, OK, MS 660, will run a 36" bar OK, but is tip heavy and cuts curvy as soon as the chain is even slightly dull. You got some monsters coming up bro?
  12. These glitches probably take longer to reach you up there Stevie. They should hit you about mid March.
  13. Anyone else having problems? Nothing major, just some threads say they have a page of unread posts and when you click on that page it just jumps back to the page you were on? Or it could be all the sawdust in my laptop....
  14. Some interesting cutting techniques there... Would love to see a vid of the second stem takedown. Remember to stand well back!
  15. What are you going to push the other stem over with Mozza?
  16. It's a tricky one this. Charging for apps might put some people off, but I have obtained permissions before and the work has been carried out by someone else, which has p***ed me right off! I don't normally like to give a price until permission has been granted either, because the spec can change a fair amount eg have had requests for 20% reduction come back denied with permission granted for 10% thin, which obviously affects the price. May start telling people the permission is only for me then load the price.....
  17. See you got your own crane now bro. You kept that one quiet! Shame the old girl had to go alright. I too envy the ride though!
  18. Mmmmm - good point mate. I have never done any to this spec so I wouldn't know! May try and persuade the next customer to go lighter then. Although most of my Willow work is pollards tbh.
  19. I totally agree with that Lee. My resolution this year is to become much more of a ruthless businessman. However, a fair few of my customers have become friends over the years so I treat them accordingly, fair work, fair money. I would never stoop to chasing planning apps though. It's a snake belly low gypo trick IMO. They are scum Matty. I'm glad your customer stuck by you.
  20. Moz I'm so jel! Mine hasn't arrived yet! I'll bring it up when it does for a leather clad Granfors-Bruks action lunge outside a bar in Canal Street!
