  1. When we were scrapping away for pride in scruffy little gyms across the country, this man gave us something to fight for in the lower tier. Thanks Henry Cooper. Thanks Lionel and Bob at Croft House Boys Club in Sheffield Thanks our 'Enry - splash it on!
  2. RIP 'Enry. Gutted Rich.
  3. BTW Tom, the shackle measures 24mm internal diameter, so I'll go for the 26mm DMM to keep things neat. I'll put pics up when I've set up, although I'll probably be on the Ten o'clock news by then as the worlds most efficient tree surgeon now Stevie Blair has retired.
  4. AP all the way Matt. For true self tending I find you need a fair length of rope beneath you, and if I'm honest that doesn't happen to me that often any more! You'd have to talk to Ross Smith or Rich Rule who climb anything higher than a desk for me now. Until I get my Poison Ivy....
  5. Gutted Tone. She wouldn't keep it on when we got back....
  6. Loved it. Very positive bite, which I've struggled with on the VT, and minimal sitback. Drew explained that the ring stops the VT from 'opening' fully, which would explain the great grip, but think this may hamper the self-tending a bit? I'll have a play.
  7. So it's you that's undercutting me then.... Wise words mates. The problem is when you're slack you need more money! I think there are basically two pricing tiers. Time served tree blokes with tickets, insurance etc. and have a go gardeners/dids/kids with their daddy's farm toys etc.
  8. I had mine set up like this Tom (temporarily using a small shackle instead of a ring), with the rope also going through the ring. Drew reckons a bigger ring would slop around too much. DMM make rings with internal diameters of 26,28,34 and 40mm (same as on the Treemotion), and I wasn't sure which to go for? 12mm Tachyon/Imori/Poison Ivy + 2 legs of 8mm AP = 28mm, but they don't necessarily sit in a line if you catch my drift?
  9. Well put Dodger. I feel very proud to be British at the moment.
  10. Ha ha, brilliant mate. Totally agree with Monkey D, it's what sets us apart from lesser countries, and William and Kate come across like nice folks to me. God Save the Queen.
  11. I refute that comment in every sense of the word. It was a bottle of mineral water which burst in my pants....
  12. Put me on to few can you mate? This side of Ashford they are demanding up to £15 a day!
  13. I know if you get one Tom, you will use it all the time. Look at Huck with his rig. When Reg says there is no going back, I don't doubt it. I've never used 50T stuff, but more agricultural stuff with a Telehandler has shown me how much is possible in a day, even simply lifting the last 6' over walls etc. I think Rupe and I are in the same boat in some ways, working in the country, working in tight country lane access areas, working for farmers who think £50 is a fair price for any tree job, and not necessarily having an unlimited amount of work to go on to. Reg, have you got any footage of smaller cranes working? Off road even better. Peace.
  14. Did you see his SRT Revolver vid?
  15. Good thread Wired. Mark Chisholm is a pleasure to watch climbing. He looks so natural.
  16. iphone, leather flip case, in the truck when I don't need it, in a dog-poo bag when I have to have it out in a pocket in the wet.
  17. This question comes up now and again. A phone is a tool, like anything else. Abuse it and you will break it. Look after it and it will be ok. I have a JCB phone with extra rubber which I keep in the middle of a straw bale strapped round my waist with a couple of old tyres hanging either side of it....
  18. Ditto Rob. I was worried about the plastic clips, but they have been bulletproof (2 1/2 yrs), and the straps stay where you adjust them! As always, try before you buy if possible, but it's a good harness alright.
  19. Everything has it's place lads. Cranes, MEWPS, even ladders! I wouldn't rule anything out to make a job quicker/safer/more profitable. Good discussion fellas. James, you stay out of this one, you haven't done a crane jo...., oh bollocks!
  20. I might just order one for you as well bro, to cheer you up after all the boring stuff you got delivered today. Any pics of your bar oil?
  21. Back on the VT now after trying Drews ring tip (didn't have a spare ring, so substituted a small shackle). Really impressed, grips every time now with minimal sitback. Time to order a small DMM anchor ring! Recommend it to everyone. Cheers Drew.
