  1. Our lass has got them. They are really hard to pull on, she snapped the tab within a week and Arbortec reckoned she’d abused them. Seeing as you can break a ball bearing I’d give them a swerve.
  2. It’s a tough one for sure Alec. As you seem to be one of the most intelligent, reasonable and level-headed people on here I’m not sure I can help much! Mike’s idea of a registered letter is pretty sound, although ‘received’ and ‘opened and read’ can be different things. Maybe try calling from a different number? Yours may have been put on the ‘hassle I can’t deal with filter’. If you can get the opportunity to explain the situation I’m sure you can do it with diplomacy and tact, given the circumstances. Like Alex, I’d avoid solicitors if at all possible. Last resort territory for me. Good luck with it mate.
  3. Bore vertically down the centre of the ring with a saw at least halfway. Drop a wedge into the bore cut and smack the wedge in with a sledge or back of maul. This should halve the ring. Repeat on the halves if necessary. Things should get easier after that, especially if you knock logs of the edges rather than trying to halve the whole piece every time.
  4. I’m pretty sure he’s added blue, at least.
  5. Skyland Equipment - Arborist & Rope Access. Tel: +44(0) 151 345 9971 SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM Suppliers of arborist equipment, chainsaws, chainsaw boots, arborist climbing ropes...
  6. The Stihl dealer is probably just bitter that the Echo is a better saw than the 150!
  7. Yes, sorry meant 57 DL chain, the standard 56 DL for the 150 won’t fit.
  8. They fit no problem mate, with no modifications required.
  9. Have you tried RobD at chainsawbars.co.uk? The best combo (by a mile) I have tried is a Stihl 150 bar with a Stihl 56 DL chain, which fit straight on. Skyland should have them in stock.
  10. You’re an idiot Kevin. I went for a full page. I’ll throw you some soup from the window of my Range Rover when I’m next in Cornwall buying my 10th property, you loser!
  11. They won’t look that nice if they’re done twice a year! You know the rule with pollards Mick. When they start looking really nice it’s time to hit them again!
  12. The last guy was a robbing bastard and the minister is a gullible fool.
  13. Thanks. The only problem I foresee is that I couldn’t reach the controls from the ground? Do you walk up the ramps?
  14. You didn’t ring it because you’ve nowt to clear the dust with! That grapple looks massive, although I suppose most do on these tiny machines.
  15. I did it loads when I was young and hungry for cash mate. Most of the customers never got me back after stage one of killing their trees, and told their friends. I know what you’re saying mate, but perhaps if I’d been better equipped with knowledge back then we could have achieved some more favourable outcomes for them and their trees?
  16. Thanks Alex, all taken on board. Every day is a school day. I found the WQ’s controls jerky at first, but ‘feathering’ them came pretty quickly. I’d be the first to say I’m no machine operator like Doobin. I have the touch of a rapist.
  17. That’s a great way to get a reputation as a shite tree surgeon who doesn’t understand trees.
  18. Thanks mate. You wouldn’t reverse load it?
  19. Shifting rings like Doobin says, shifting grinder arisings and sawdust, and piling brash straight into it. You can also fix plates to the side to make a Heath Robinson bucket with the grab upright, as I’ll sub to a few builder mates. I do see the grab as a must, like. I’ll also want to move the chipper with it on some jobs. Cast make a dedicated plate with a 50mm ball, and attachments are easy on/off, but I’d probably fab up a cheapo that fixes to the bucket. It’s all good, there are so many options. How do you transport your machine Alex? I’m keen to see a vid of someone loading one up ramps into a Transit bed or similar.
  20. No mate, that’s the only one he had there. Seemed pretty knowledgable about the other attachments though. That’s the one I’d get first anyway.
  21. Love all this input Doobin, thanks. Just had a quick blast on the Worky Quad with Graham from Gem Plant in Ashford. I was very impressed. IMG_6136.MOV
  22. You need to show the customer some pictures of trees that have been hammered and explain that they will actually get LESS light through the dense, vigorous regrowth. Your original 3rd option may be the best, but don’t overthin them, beeches don’t like it.
