  1. I wouldn't normally chip sycamore that big but it's all we had to give it something big, we chipped some cherry next day and it was just as bad but jammed the rollers wide open. Redwood have been fantastic with after sales whilst I have had forst wich is 3 and a half years. I do like some of the features on the new tw though, high pressure grease lines, great access to change blades and a wide infeed. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. To be fair it was 6-7 inch sycamore poles, I know they all do it to an extent but the tw 280 was really bad. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Very rarely to be honest, the st8 has been far better than the 6 but there is still issues for redwood to sort long term, bloody good chipper though. Shame about the tw 280 chucking so much stuff out, even baz was a bit shocked and said the 230 doesn't do it. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. Why bother with expensive chainsaw gear if there only young lads, get em a pair of dickies and a 20 quid pair of work boots and see how they go for a couple of months dragging and swearing etc, if they have no ppe or don't know if they will like it then there new to the job and probably not able to use a saw anyway. 5. Go to any garage and give em a tenner and they will press em on for you. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. The forst is at least usable when nor broken down around other people! Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. Probably coz the rollers are jammed open again with a foot long bit of timber [emoji23] Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. [emoji23] so True. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. A 10t press will be more than up to it, dress the shafts up first and they should go on fairy easily. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. I demod one a couple of weeks ago, was ok but the amount of large bits of wood it chucks out the back is an issue, we ran it fir 10 mins on a job and the rollers stuck open with a chunk if wood stuck in the slider, I wouldn't want to use it on a road or foot path it was that bad. 11. What are the symptoms Ben? I only ask as a few years ago my carlton 4012d had an intermittent radio problem and it turned out to be a small earth wire going to the engine that was broken but touching with vibration when revving. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Both Kev and Tom are talking a lot of sense and I'm in the same boat as both of them,I would rather have good kit on finance than "own" knackered stuff, I also had forst out today to fix a greas line, machine wasn't down but I reported it Tuesday and they called in yesterday on the off chance but the machine was out so came back today, after sales really is good. 13. Haha straight in for the kill there Tom. Good machine and would do you well George. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. Like josh says, they will think you have inside info even if you don't and you can also undercut them as your paid anyway to a certain extent, a guy local to me does cheap jobs isn't well liked because of it as he's a paramedic on 30k a year to start with. 15. That's no too bad then, I would still be wary of the over loading thing if working for a council though. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. Just about all on a daily basis, I would give it plenty of thought as working for the council and being caught over weight won't look good, also what about the conflict of intrest thing? Working as a contractor and being a tree officer won't go down well with other contractors in the same area surly? ?? Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. So you have 700k legal payload! Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. Every 3.5t arb truck is over weight most days of the week, they just art up to it legally. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Forget the single wheel thing, the wheels are bigger and carry the weight just as well yes your better with rear wheel drive but fwd is ok as long as your not in v hilly areas, I ran a relay fir 5 yrs with no problems, cheaper than a trannie and just as good but then no 3.5t is great for arb work. 20. Depends what your pulling as 100hp ain't much and once loaded it will be hard going. Check the rear springs, we have the older version of this and as standard only have a single leaf so sat on its arse when a fly landed on it! It will need uprated springs fitting if there not doubles. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. Pretty much true! Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app

  24. Best ask pete B. A lot of chippers use tracks but gm just won a case against jensen for the safetrac system. Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Very little to be honest, it doesn't pull in nearly as well or get used as much but still has 1200 hrs on it, I'm starting to think my forst won't get there! Sent from my SM-N910F using Arbtalk mobile app
