  1. Just proves insurance is pretty much useless and is only on there terms ! I’m with trust and there ok but it will be getting some serious amendments this year
  2. There's thousands of one man arb firms running out of shed and garages all over the country, unless you piss off you people living around you I don't think you will have much problem.
  3. But if it’s not you don’t! The answer is right there
  4. Pretty sure you do not need planning for a temp structure like a shed.
  5. There great bits of kit and give great info, the biggest hurdle is getting people to pay for the service! The last one I had done was 400 + vat the client nearly choked when I told them how much it would be!
  6. Just thought I would mention the great service and work done on our web site by Steve Bullman, prompt work and a v fair price, our site was good and ranking ok on page 1 but I just knew it wasn’t perfect, it needed another set of eyes and ideas and as Steve is an ex Arborist he knows exactly where we are coming from unlike most web people, there’s so many rip off merchants out there that have you think it’s some form of dark art that it’s easy to be ripped off as I was! If you need honest web work doing I can recommend Steve 100%
  7. Some wont but trees and hedges always grow, I set up in a recession and am doing ok. somethings will always carry on.
  8. Plus don't forget when the next recession hits, which it will and the sites shut all these well paid trades wont be earning a bean, horses for courses!
  9. we run 2 Isuzu tippers, one 3.5t and a new 5.5t there great and as Yorkshire compact loaders said there a small lorry rather than a van, they tow well and carry well the only thing is you get a lorry ride where as a modern van is more like a car, that said its a work horse not a weekend family run around. The Isuzu have been great, parts are a bit more but then when you compare say a brake caliper its twice the size of a van one so horses for courses.
  10. No it hasn't, whats its created is lads doing a few courses and the collages telling them there's big money at the end, I have had collage lads on work experience tell me in 18 months when they finish there level 3 collage has said there going to be on £150 a day!
  11. That’s called business! A grarage charged 45 pounds an hour, what do you think they pay a Machanic? Some has to be back in to running things or are you one of these that thinks trucks and machines run for free?
  12. "Serious lack of decent arb employers" No a serious over staffing in the country, there is only so much in a pot to pay a bloke and with the amount of guys leaving collage every year funded by mummy and daddy with a tranny and tw it only drives prices down, a qualified mechanic is around the 25k mark so is a sparky and plumber, granted they get more if self employed but that's because the public value them more, its a fact of life most domestic people look at us as glorified gardeners and Ladnscapers, Rather than moan at employers why don't you go get your bag of power tools and go earn a load of money cos the situation aint going to get any better soon! The amount some people are willing to work for in this job amazes me by that I mean contractors pricing the job.
  13. Rich the 32 quid was fir a card, the h n s 1 day course was 120 quid nd the test es 17 quid the just send off fir a green card
  14. One of my lads did it last year , one day health and safety course then touch screen test and a green labourers card for 32 quid, no one says you have to have a skills card, 4 of us have the green card and never have a problem on sites, they never sk for nptc either Am sure it will change though as the training industry want to make it s lucrative as possible!
  15. Looks like you bought the lot bob ! Out of stock now
  16. Can’t really understand your problem, trees move in the wind, there ment to and the swaying actions actually improves there strength, if they didn’t move they would snap! The council want to keep a nice old tree hence the delicate pruning only, to mitigate any risk get a tree report done every 3 to 5 yrs by a consultant then you have taken all due care. In reality I think it’s just an excuse for more light or less leves or that sort of thing and the council can see that.
  17. Did CHAS first then get the others of the back of that, no hard just n office job and well wort it if your doing any form of commercial work as for which ones bring more work, it’s hard to say, none of the will get you the job alone but a lot of firms won’t even let you quote with out one, one grounds maintenance contract we have is worth 10k per year and you have to have an ssip to even tender .
  18. We are smas and CHAS do one you can get the other fir a small payment, different firms like different things
  19. Is it a rear wheel drive variant? We just got shot of an 07 tipper, was ok drove nice but build quality is only mediocre at best, that said there a boat load cheaper than a Tranny
  20. Just get a labourer card, never had n issue
  21. Hi Ian Welcome to the asylum, we’re all a bit nuts in here?
  22. We had it for a week in evaluation before it came out, we liked it . It’s a nice looking machine, good power and a proper 6”machine, the petrol doesn’t have the low down grunt of a diesel but that’s to be expected. Is it the best 6” ? No I would say forst is much better indeed and the tw has a bigger opening. I wish gm would get rid of the side rollers as I don’t think there anywhere near as good as a standard set up and there not good on snapping stuff as we have an arb150 d , it’s good but I would spend more on the Forst.
  23. Free fire wood available this week in seaham County Durham whitebeam cherry sycamore poplar all in manageable sizes pick up only with great access Pm me it text 07782251881 Ian
  24. Vespa man would fall right in this category ?
