  1. Congratulations! and thanks for the updates! Any chance of some photographs?
  2. Yep! Makes Chalara pale into insignificance doesn't it. Worrying times indeed.
  3. Can't really offer any additional advice but would be interested to hear how you get on. Good luck. Keep us posted.
  4. Make sure your nitrile gloves are NOT lined and they are at least 300mm long.
  5. Black jacks and fruit salads! Do you have a link to your 70p a pair gloves site that you own shares in? I have always found that, gloves or no gloves, thorns often cause lasting discomfort and localised infection.
  6. Sickening. And no one heard or saw anything at all?
  7. It depends on the size of the bill and the length of time it has remained unpaid. I find its the bigger companies that are the worst offenders. Some seem to have systems in place to try and avoid payment and waste your time passing you from pillar to post.
  8. Randy Newman - Short People - YouTube
  9. That looks like Loch Morlich. Am I close?
  10. Just follow what your instructor tells you and you will be fine. Swot up on your calculations, nozzles, and everything covered in the course the night before and your examiner will see that you have put in the effort. Just remember to practice what you have learned and don't spray until you are satisfied you understand the risks associated with using it (I have seen a lot of herbicide damage to trees)!
  11. Good advice. But watch out for those thorns!
  12. Yes they have, stihl do one too...
  13. Does it have thorns? Could it be a hawthorn?
  14. Bless you! Sorry couldn't resist.
  15. Nice one thanks! Looks reasonable healthy at the moment! Sorry to the OP if this is considered a hijack of the thread. I shall cease and desist now that Eddy T has kindly sated my appetite!
  16. Given your answers, I would suggest that there is no risk of damage from heave resulting from tree removal. I would go ahead and remove it. It is a species that will respond well to heavy pruning, but you have to consider the strength of attachment of any new growth that develops and the potential for decay at the sites of large pruning wounds + the 'targets'. Also what are the costs associated with removal as opposed reduction and repeat visits to manage regrowth? Are you representing your clients best interests? You really need to weigh all this up before making your final recommendation. Hope this helps
  17. I have sent statements to clients with interest and late payment fees added but have found that many just pay the initial sum owed and ignore the extra charges. Has anyone else had this? How have you dealt with it? Any success in recovering the additional charges?
  18. Can you pm me a pic of the Metasequoia when you get a chance or even post on this thread I suppose as it has been mentioned in passing?
  19. Has there been any history of subsidence damage at the property? Is the tree older than the property? Are the clients worried about subsidence/heave?
  20. Nice place to work. Any other interesting exotics there?
  21. Weak unions, previous injury, bad past management, strong wind -compounding factors.
  22. Are you working there today?
  23. Nice specimen. Thanks for that.
