It would depend on the site, if there was one needle I'd probably crack on put it in a sharps box, if the site was littered I think it would be reasonable for the situation to be addressed appropriately. Either through proper training and equipment, or a third party. In situations like this I always look at the 'real risk' to myself and my team. If it's genuinely not safe walk away R
  3. I used to drive one for someone, I found 20mpg was about average, remember it being shocking
  4. Check your valve clearances would by first step! Or get a bigger hammer!
  5. Yer it's a pain but it does work hard, and there something unnatural about trying tomato and engine spinning by whacking it on a stump. Most recently I've been having problems with the valve rockers snapping for some unknown reason. What's wrong with yours?
  6. I know that feeling I've got two gx390 engines for my stump grinder, once gets fixed whilst the other one is on the machine :-(

  8. You need ya tickets enforce you can work near powerlines carrying out line clearance. Having these tickets does not entitle you to work near lines, you still need to have authorisation from the energy company, ie just because you have the ticket does not mean you can work privately near lines.   9. Bacon buttie, beer when do I start! To the op loading and unloading a trailer will take a long time, possibly adding a day to the job, might be cheaper in the long run (depending on how much your time is worth) to get a man with van and chipper in. R
  10. I'd say at the age and mileage you're looking at your going to have problems with either and the transit will be a lot cheaper to fix. Depends if you get a good one or bad one though.
  11. Isuzu has higher towing capacity, better turning circle, is built more like a lorry. Downside more expensive on parts and harder to find mechanics that can fault find etc Transit has bigger load bed, much more comfortable for the driver and passengers. Parts a lot cheaper and more readily worked on.

  15. The grafters are nice trucks to drive far nice than the nkr! I'd be very wary of buying one though, parts are mega money and they're at the age they're going to go wrong. The burn off thing needs resetting by an Isuzu dealer, tyre wear unevenly on the front, brake pads are nearly £200, windscreen over a grand (admittedly through autoglass) I would be spending that kind of money on and old one. As I said though the grafter is a nice vehicle, turning circle is excellent and it tows 3.5t without any issues at all. R

  17. Not me but if i did I'd make sure I took a photo on my phone so I knew which two wires were connected where!
  18. Surely if you utilise the correct mewp you should be able to get round them no problems? It's going to cost you the same/more to have them taken down and put back up than to break them!

  20. As a temporary solution consider wiring in a switch that you can flick on in traffic. As to what's causing it probably a faulty connection or temp sensor somewhere
  21. Fair does no sense of scale in the picture - sounds big!
  22. A firm I subbied to had one a bit smaller than that that was exactly 3.5t with the lightweight trailer, can only have been a couple of inches down from that one.
  23. I've used then on night time work. They have their uses and aren't a bad tool in the arsenal. Not upto the job of replacing a 200/1 or 540 yet though. I was impressed by them at the apf but it was a big difference using them in the tree.
  24. I like the look of that!! Have you managed to keep it under 3.5t with a custom built trailer again? How much work is there time wise lee?
