  1. I have a Landscape planting scheme that needs doing next week 17th oct onwards, approx 5 days work, looking for some extra labour to help as we are a bit stretched at the moment. Location of job is 1 mile from JCT 10 M6. 8 a.m. start 5 p.m. finish. Would need someone that commit to do all 5 days. £120.00 per day.
  2. I have been in the same situation before on a couple of occasions. You will be suprised how effective a personal visit to the office can be. It is easy to ignore a phone call, message, email or whatever. But to have a physical pressence makes the matter more urgent. Do not be offensive or angry, just turn up ask to see whowever you have been dealing with, then sit in reception until you get to explain why you are there, have a copy of your invoice ready. Does no harm to block a couple of cars in as you park as well, kind of gets the point across that you are not leaving until its resolved. Hope you get it sorted , I know how frustrating it can be.
  3. Looking for extra pair of hands for some landscape planting work minimum 5 days. Dates will be around last week of Sept - 1st week Oct. Send me a P.M. if interested.
  4. David, I did alot of research recently into purchasing a hydroseeder for several jobs we had/have upcoming, the conclusions I came too are : main problem if buying new is they all come from the states and no one stocks them here, so you are looking at 6 - 8 weeks for a new one. Second hand seem to be rarer than hens teeth. Looking at a decent sized machine that does not need filling every 10 mins is £ 14 - £ 15 grand. Mulch etc is only economic to buy in voulume so you need the workload, or free cash to let it sit around until used. The rates for contract work seem ridiculously low, we have subbed out work recently that went for 18p m2 including seed, mulch, tackifier and fert. ( grass seeding ) When conventional seeding we need 30p - 40p to make it pay. So my conclusion was let the other guy do it and make a margin on his pricing! Having said this,If I could get a used machine for 5 grand or so, I would do it. As I think it is a good tool and service to have. But you need to be seriously using the kit to make any decent money out of it.
  5. David, I would also recommend forestart as above. If you are looking for someone to do the hydroseeding we have used CDTS in the past. CDTS - Direct Tree Seeding
  6. Steve, The Latest brochures for the Hilux state tow capacity at 2500kg, Plates on the vehicle state 2800kg, I am going with the vehicle plates if i get pulled:001_smile:
  7. New Hilux's are plated to tow 2800 kgs had mine 6 months now and it tows nearly everyday usually about 2.5 t Covered 16,000 miles so far and very happy with it.
  8. My new hilux extra cab is plated to tow 2.5 t ( on the tow bar ) 2.8 t on the gross train weight. Toyota's new brochure and website states 2.5 t

  10. Looks good Dave, I would be tempted to finish the roof felt off with a facia board of some sort. the felt can get a bit dogeared along the edges if left as it is. Even a roof lathe batten will look smarter, less chance of it ripping near the nails also. How about staining the timber a nice dark green as an option.
  11. Dean, As others have said, best bet is to take a thin layer at a time to crumb the clay up rather than big scoops that put alot of pressure squeezing it into the bucket. If your neighbour has a ripping tooth for the machine, you could loosen an area with this first so as to get some air in to the ground. When doing footings we have a large plate of steel as a foot with a couple of scaffold pipes welded to it so that they stand upright you can drag this around with you as you move and use it to clean/loosen the bucket without leaving the machine. Almost like a giant tooth pick. If you have loads to do and a few bits of steel kicking about it may be worth fabbing one up. Took me about 30 min to make. Hope this helps
  12. Toyota Hilux Surf, Hilux Pickup & Land Cruiser Parts | UK Leading Independent Supplier Are good for Hilux parts. Wings should be bolt on so he could do alot himself to save costs.
  13. Pete, Friends of mine have had 2 large multispan tunnels and 1 large shade house installed this year at their nursery. They where supplied by Northern Polytunnel, they are very good quality and where easy to erect. I also believe that the price was also very competitive, I know that they got quotes from 3 or 4 companies.
  14. I have been thinking about one of these: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ9vPvaATE0&feature=related]YouTube - Kedjeröjsågen - nya möjligheter för din röjning[/ame] HUSQVARNA 535FBx - Forestry clearing saws I have alot of spacing to do later this year, and this seems like the ideal tool. I am waiting to see if you can put a strimer head onto it, seems like it would be ideal for banks etc. Only downside is the cost!
  15. Congrats everyone who one something and thanks to all those who donated a prize. I look forward to reading my essential arb, hopefully I might learn something:001_smile:
  16. I think global plant in Birmingham hire the boxer miniskid with a heavy duty flail. I spoke to them a while back to see if i could hire the flail to go on our machine. They used to have a banner on the left of Arbtalk:001_smile: Just tried the website, any trace of the boxxer machines has disapeared. What about Kilworth, maybe they have a demo tracter and flail you could hire. they are close to you i think.
  17. Did you see this one Stevie. Lose the road rail gear and put some bolsters on the back. MMmmm Drool:001_smile:
  18. Click the link in the top left of the site. It says English.
  19. I agree Skyhuck, today's radio news sounded like the world was going to end because of a 2.5% rise. I sometimes feel that life would be better without listening/watching the news, just get on with it and let all that nonsense pass by.
  20. Well hopefully that got your attention I am a true believer that you get out of life what you put in. It is very easy to become complacent and concentrate on your own circumstances whilst forgetting that the majority of people in this world are worse off than you. I urge everyone to make 2011 a year of giving, even if it is only the occasional 10 minutes of your time to a good cause, or miss the odd pint occasionally and put that £2.50 to better use. The benefits you get will be far greater than the effort put in. Why not start with an Arbtalk raffle ticket, you give to a good cause and get the chance to win something....., an instant return. Even if you do not win anything you have already gained. Just think of all the useful info you have gleaned from this site over the year, the little tips to save time on a job, ideas on pricing, cheap stockist of tools etc. Surely that has to be worth a fiver to a good cause? With over 8000 members here, just imagine how much good could be done if everyone gave a fiver. Think about it.
  21. BFG's Mud terrains KM2 are a good tire, I have used them on various vehicles and always been happy. Last year I decided to try another brand ( I couldn't source the km2's in the correct size at the time ) Did a bit of research and bought these: Dynapro MT - Hankook Hankook Dynapro MT, Have run them for about 15,000 miles now and pretty happy with them, not to noisy and great traction in mud and snow. About a third cheaper than the BFG's
  22. I thought I would add to this thread about tow capacity for the Hilux. New models are now rated to tow 2500kg instead of 2250kg They have redesigned the tow hitch attacement plate to give the higher capacity.
  23. Only if they are provided by the NHS Josh:001_smile:
  24. In my eyes the right machinery is priceless. Those who are looking only at what an items cost need to take a different viewpoint....what can it earn? should be the main question you answer before making a business purchase.
  25. Hey Leyburn Lad I got the Steinbauer chip fitted in our 2007 hilux a few months after buying it. I was used to my 3.0L older hilux import which had plenty of grunt. So the 120bhp felt abit slower. Fine for reg use, but I tend to have a trailer on for 75% of my journeys towing around 2 ton on most days. You will get on well with the new truck, toyota do build a good pickup my 1999 import has 230,000 on the clock, with no major work done, still drives well and is used daily. ( it has probably towed for 120,000 miles ) I have an extra cab on order with the 144bhp engine which we should be getting next month. From memory the Chip was about £380.00 its a simple plug in harness that can be removed easily. Unfortunatley the company that I got it from have vanished but here is a link to Steinbauer: STEINBAUER Tuning Technologies
