  1. Hire in a bigger chipper that can take it?
  2. Bogoff I'm already watching it I bet it goes for more than my budget anyway.
  3. Your quite right. I was surprised to see just how light they were. Most that I see are flatbeds, solid & mesh sides or stock types. That or they are using normal trailers as plant ones. Dont think I have seen any pukka plant ones.
  4. Just remember that any optional extras or additions like the spare wheel, rear stands, ramps options, bucket stand ect do not come within the unladen weight of the trailer. Even a full tank of gas in the digger could be an extra 50+kg. Just thought too, how often do you clean the digger after a job but before you load it up? I bet there can be 50kg of mud stuck to it.
  5. 2.8 tonne def out & poss even the 2.5 tonne. Most 3500kg trailers weigh over 1000kg. Also remember that the digger weight does not include any buckets / fuel ect.
  6. I have whole trunk about 2 to 3 foot across & 20+ foot long. Was standing dead wood & has been down for 3 or 4 years resting off the ground.
  7. This. I doubt any Agri tie would be satisfied by horses.
  8. Your now not allowed to ask someone to get a DBS for a job where you actually dont need one. I doubt you actually need one for this type of job.
  9. In the end the foundations were not an issue for us. We put it on wooden piles just in case we went down the exempt/PD get stuffed route. I now wish we had gone for proper foundations as they will need sorting at some point. They did initially want to know all about them as we did start to go the PD route just to slow them down to we got to the enforcement exempt time limit. Our pitch is on the minimum allowed.
  10. Our 6x16 took 3 lorry loads & 14 active days of milling inc making the shingles. Each milling day was followed by a day moving & stickering all the timbers (1x1 1x2 2x2 2x3 2x4 2x6 2x8 1x5 1x6,bandsaw cut shingles & loads of bits for trims), processing the waste & getting the logs ready for the next day. Yes that could have been done during the milling day but as I was paying per day I wanted the operator to stay on the controls non stop. If your going for temporary watch out for perm/fixed foundations.
  11. PS, they will expect it to sit on a substantial sub frame or have an engineers report stating that it is designed to be able to be moved without damage. We initially were fighting the council re our cabin but they refused to accept it was movable for the above reasons. In the end we beat them with the time limits for enforcement. Our council uses this:- You MUST make it as two finished sections that are then joined as the last operation. It must be move able when joined. I know its not what the regs say but its easier to beat them with their own rules if you can.
  12. Build it with the ridge height you want for the pitch you need for the roof covering you are using & then false truss / clad the ceiling to the height limit. Make it easy to remove just in case you get planning / change your mind in the future. Low ceilings make the place much easier to heat to a sensible comfort level for minimal cost / fuel.

I always wonder what the manufacturer would rate the trailer at if they were not limited by the 3500kg regulations.
  14. Well there is a requirement for all vehicles to have lights on overnight unless they are in a 30mph street light area so they wont be far out. Its just like siting a skip if you think about it.
  15. Well I just got the reply so as promised here it is. This is the email I sent them I hope that helps.
  16. Could mean that some new car buyers will switch to buying a car after the first large payment has been made.
  17. None without manually guessing the length or modifying it. It says it does 12" to 24".
  18. Do you know the fuel consumption per hour? Will you be selling the fully galved ones too? Any reduction for collection?
  19. Why? Seems odd to not fit tyres that can do the legal UK limit of 60 mph for trailers. Fitting F rated tyres to a combination that can exceed their rating sounds very very iffy & possibly has insurance & licencing implications. It def has C&U implications. Tyres are rated for the speed the vehicle can go (or all car would only have L rated 75mph tyres fitted). With allowance for its performance re acceleration, cornering & braking at it load limits. Has someone mis read the 80 load index on the tyre (for weights up to 450kg each)?
  20. If they can get in the first pipe by design they will get in the second too. If you want a twin pipe system make both root proof.
  21. I would guess that all of you that did the courses at your own cost were subbies or fully self employed? Employees should be trained at the cost of the company. Inc being paid for the time on courses. I fall into the its not right to expect them to do this in their holidays camp. However there might be a third way. Instead of a tie in/pay it back period get them to use the holiday time but for each say 3 or 4 months they stay after the course they get back 1 days holiday allowance. Over the first year they would not loose out by more than one day. Poss even keep it running so that if they stay for 2 years they earn an extra days holiday? At the min I am having a similar issue with my sons employer. His employer needs him to have his B+E licence due to a change in his work. I teach it & the employer thinks I should do it for free. My son does not want the licence for his own use. He has told his employer that he will do it but that they must pay for it as if I do it for free then I am not doing a paying course for someone else.
  22. To prove it just swap it to power up not down & set the spring to pull it down.
  23. You cant control the ram extension when you are pushing it. It can be pulled out. Your drop control is just the spring at the min. You can force the saw into the log but not hold it back. Set it up the other way with a single acting ram powering it up or set it up as a double acting ram. You have the port already as it looks like a double acting ram.
  24. Dont hold your breath. Sometime you get a good responce quickly. Other times its no responce or such drivel you think they have read someone elses question.
  25. Question has been sent.
