  1. 2 cuts on each 120 logs. Or less than 2%. Not going to break the bank.
  2. Stephen Croucher Williams Driving School Or phone him on 07786578581
  3. You dont have to be in the guild or a showman for some of the exemptions they use.
  4. Yes there is a set maneuver for the test. Diagram attached. Most fails are for the normal driving & not the reverse test or hitch & unhitch. I will ask my mates for recommendations in your area. LGV_PCV_BE_manoeuvring_exercise_area_diagram.pdf
  5. Its 100Km radius now.
  6. You do see him having to manually adjust the log two or three times in the video.
  7. Nice solid bit of kit. I would have had it galved after going to all that work. Re its speed. It looks like the slowness is down to the operator. A better op would up speed 50% easily. A few mods could double output. This is what is slowing it down:- Pulling the holding bar all the way back every time, pulling the saw all the way back every time. Most of the time using one hand on the controls or only using one at a time when two are on the controls. Mods I would make are:- Fit a foot pedal or elbow pad to a handle for the splitter ram with auto return. Join the holder & cutter bar controls so that they work together with the holder just ahead of the cutter bar. Fit auto return on release of control. Fit a variable stop to both so you can set it for how far off each goes goes. Then operation is reduced to:- hand control move log in poss with auto stop for length hand activate holder & cutter with hand control on speed of cut foot activate ram auto return of holder & cutter auto return of ram hand control feeder for next cut length till auto stop
  8. Any vehicle over 3500kg. For this "vehicle" includes the trailer weight. However some uses are exempt. There are lots of threads on here already so after you have looked them up if you have any specific questions ask away.
  9. If you have the budget then Chief Architect 10 is the dogs danglies. Architectural Home Design Software by Chief Architect I used the trial mode to design my home. Trouble is you can save anything so I did a complete shell & printed it out & then rebooted & did each detailed bit then printed it out. Each attempt is only a 1 hour session so you need to play with it to get it done withing that time. It will give you a cutting list of every bit used if needed.
  10. Invoice 360
  11. To what end? Its an impossible situation. The linked photo was more about pre / post 2013. Different wording but same meaning now they dropped the weight relativity thing.
  12. How can they? A pre 97 cat B licence holder will also have a B+E D1+E C1+E (<8250kg) ect You cant have a PRE 97 cat B & not have the +E bit.
  13. Eh? Pre 97 you have LOTS of cats & +E Post 97 you get very few cats & no +E
  14. There used to be a change in 2013, its now been removed. It was re the trailers MAM not being more than the vehicles unladen weight. So now its just pre or post 97 in effect. Just spotted you have already mentioned this.
  15. You will be in the tacho weights. Its now over 3500kg INC the trailer. However exemptions do apply.
  16. That site has shakes that are tapered or straight. Some even have one saw cut face too.
  17. 1, So you will need a steeper roof to start with to allow for the extra kick up that will be flattening it out. The shingles are 10mm at the thick end (about 1mm at the thin end 450mm later). Thats a 30mm step on a triple layer if the shakes are the same at both ends. That will reduce the effective pitch by about 10%. 2, Try stacking a row of books keeping each book in full contact with the next. With the thicker the books you cant get a triple layer without a very short exposed face. So many more rows will be needed. 3, With slate I think you only have a double thickness at any point but not my thing. Nor is shingling really just read up on it did a bit with someone that knows what they are doing & then did mine. Tiles are even thicker but tend to only be single layer & the joints are overlapped. Playing on the floor now with DVD cases This website recommends a minimum pitch of 1 in 3 for shakes & 1 in 4 for shingles on normal roofs.
  18. Re the taper. These are my thoughts & not based any any thing else. It would be hard to get the double or triple layer on the first row & then neatly lay the second & third rows without it. I would also say that the min roof pitch would be higher with no taper.
  19. No harm done
  20. Yes & yes. First one is the last day of shingling. The other one was taken earlier this year.
  21. I think its because:- When cut you are opening up all the cells & cutting the structure. Cleaving leaves cells & structure intact.
  22. I think it was actually on this site that I read it (might have been the welding site as they seem to have the same payment problems). Sure that someone was having trouble getting paid & the guilty party was using that as a reason to not pay. I have been googling & most of the info is not from the UK. It does seem that in the UK after 30 days you can charge interest even if not in the T&C's unless the terms for payment were longer. A good tip I have picked up is to actually specify a date that the payment is due rather than on receipt or in 30 days. Even if its the same day for some reason people pay on time that way.
  23. That pic was while we were doing 4500 shingles for my roof. I think we would still be at it if doing them as shakes (I think I am right that shingles are cut & shakes are split). The blocks are cut in various widths to give a random look to the roof. Hand split also takes more wood & is harder to fit as they are not an even thickness.
  24. Rookie mistake. If you have no payment terms that say when the payment is due then it can never be over due. I am sure that there was big case where this happened.
  25. This is the one my mate uses. He had it made to his specs. After each pass you throw the lever to change the angle the blocks sit at.
