  1. Which chain should I use on a processor (WP30)? Looking at the Oregon range there are VPX BPX & LPX semi & full chisel I guess there are others too. Second question. The manual says that it is a 72 325 0.50 1.5mm Whilst looking for chains they all seem to be 0.50 1.3mm or 0.58 1.5mm Is the info in the manual wrong?
  2. Cord delivered costs Man power fuels oils ground rental or purchase rates hand tools purchase / replacement processor purchase / replacement Vehicle running costs & replacement costs business insurance Employers insurance Your wages for hours worked Plus the one everyone forgets, Company profits & taxes
  3. Thats below production costs if your buying the wood in.
  4. I am looking for cord wood that can be delivered to the LL53 6LP area. Max 12" pref 8-10" Full lorry load be that 18 tonnes or larger. 18T can get in to unload, wagon & drag will need to split about 200 meters away & reload the front to make the delivery. No arctics. Anyone want to quote me?
  5. Its a matter of knowing which dept to contact re different issues. I am contacting them regularly re different issues as part of my job. Plus make sure its is in writing........
  6. I have asked the DVSA (the new VOSA) for a definitive answer.
  7. Yep you are missing duty cycle. The bigger one will work for longer at any given output.
  8. I would agree. However its not my opinion that matters.
  9. If you want low output for thin metal then look at the Porta mig range.
  10. This is a quote from the guideance. Its is very open to interpritation. Can a trailer with a machine permanently fixed to it count as mobile machinery? I will have to ask DVSA re this.
  11. Not sure if this would be a new trailer or an alteration of one. Also trailers that are fixed plant could be exempt anyway if I am understanding the regs correctly. .
  12. Will need to be a big processor to do 18".
  13. Replace the single axle with a braked single axle. Unless the tow vehicle is over 2600kg (ish to allow for extra weight of brake kit) then they still wont need a trailer licence.
  14. Not so much a defence but mitigating circumstances.
  15. After the death of the little girl due totally to the failure to fit a breakaway cable they are rightly very hot on it.
  16. If you think its over 750kg they will be after you for a whole raft of regs. Over weight no brakes over axle loads poss over tyre rating Are you also worried re trailer licence? If so then being over 750kg might not be an issue dep on the vehicle you are towing it with. Is there not a large & easily unbolted part that can be removed for towing?
  17. Does it have brakes? What weight is on the weight plate?
  18. I get the feeling they might be doing that afterwards anyway. Just making sure your good for a blame claim first.
  19. Day rate? Hourly rate? £X for the total job?
  20. I check for play (wheel off ground) weekly. I might re grease 6 monthly. Doing about 600m per week. Sounds like iffy bearings. or just unlucky. What are the others like?
  21. The newer ones are braked hubs & I think 900kg. I bet either cheap bearings or whoever did it dint grease them up properly.
  22. How old is that splitter?
  23. I have been looking into this. You might have been misinformed. Your right that trailers need an IVA. As far as I can see trailers that are fixed plant do not.
