    Poplar fell.

yep.. Far off on the horizon is the main house..(mansion)..and the lord of the manor is opening up a ride in line with the view from the house...went up there yesterday and topped out some skinny 70-80ft sycamore and then felled the trunks for him, and felled a large ash tree. Most of the tree's in there are medium sized ash and sycamore covered in ivy. Once everything is down and the remainder thinned out he's going to replant and put the ride down. Should be a fantastic woodland once it's done.....must be great to have money like that..

    Poplar fell.

it's very slowly picking up mate, not fast enough to feel comfortable but gradually enough to lessen the butterflies if you know what I mean...Must have done 3 jobs for the bloke we felled this poplar for, and he has a few more in the pipeline. Other stuff to look at, maybe just over a weeks work on the books but the phone is still ringing each day...have noticed the job to quote ratio has gone down a bit tbh...but is to be expected I suppose.
  3. I think it's pretty clear from the pics that it will split apart eventually...how long it lasts in god hands. You could pollard higher and brace it or 10-12ft from the base and let it go for a few years. You doing the work mate?
  4. Large estate is opening up a ride through some previously unmanaged woodland, the fella doing the work calls us in when he gets to something he can't handle on his own. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw4bu3ORM7s&feature=channel_page[/ame]
  5. ditto..where is it, we want pics...whats the spread like on a 157ft plane..?
  6. We use this method wherever it is plausible...easier on the climber. Of course it is not always the best method but especially on the job above it is ideal...(if you have enough bodies on the job of course)
  7. should be governemt funded...we had the air ambulance out before and they are nothing short of amazing....truly amazing

  11. scariest moment is when a groundie had a 372 in the back of the knee and lost 6 pints of blood. second scariest is when I chunked out a slab of timber and just missed a groundie, the same groundie that had just a second ago appearred to make eye contact. Never ever made the same mistake again....
